Answer:
Well, you can have someone download them for you to a flash drive (thumb drive or any USB drive) and then insert them into the unit via the USB. I think you can also do it via a cd-rom burned with the firmware update from the LG site.

Answer:
As long as LG supports the dvd player with new firmware update then yes you can update the dvd player via the USB hub in the front. Just download the update to the USB drive and inset it in the player. In the menu it shows you how to get the dvd to read the file. Really simple.

The unit has a USB port which can accept a Wi-Fi adaptor (about $50). It does not have Wi-Fi built in.

Answer:
While I have not tried it, the specs on it say it will play dvd-dl's as ripped or copied at home. If not I will have to take it back! (I"m buying this today.)

As for the music quality it has a digital coaxial out so as long as you have a digital coaxial in on your receiver then the music should sound great. I wish it has an Optical out but it does not. The 670 does but the 670 has issues with playing dvd's correctly and I am taking my 670 back today. The 690 will play dvd's AND has an optical audio out. BUT the 690 is a lot more expensive!

Answer:
It has a digital coaxial out so it should play music just fine if you have a digital coaxial cable in on your receiver. Also it should play music via hdmi as wel but since the hdmi has to go to the tv I'm not sure if you can run it through your receiver first then another hdmi cable out to your tv...?

Looking to purchase a good Blu Ray player but will more than likely not be using it for any internet apps... I'm mainly interested in this particular unit because of the sound decoders and it will match my LG tv and LG surround sound. Thanks for your time.
