Answer:
It is nothing wrong with the Blu-ray player. Blu-ray players and Blu-rays don't do Close Captioning. They both use Subtitles. The only way that the player will show text of the show or movie is if it has Subtitles. AVI input or HDMI. But from what I understand you have to set the resolution lower (to say 480p or I) for the AVI to work if I'm correct. Sorry. :/

Answer:
DVD Discs typically do not have Closed Captions. They are formatted with Subtitles, which is the equivalent feature. This is activated by the SUBTITLE button on the remote control.

Subtitles not working via DLNA?

I am trying to get 'srt' subtitles working for videos I am playing via DLNA. The subtitles have the same exact name as the video files (with the file extension name being different, of course .srt for sub and .mkv for video) and are in the same folder, yet the subtitles do not display. I have tested 5 different videos (avi, mp4 and mkv formats) all with separate subtitle files and they still do not work. These videos play fine with subtitles on my WD Live TV, Asus O!Play and PC. What do I have to do to make these work on the bp220?

Answer:
Even though page 10 clearly states support for:

"SubRip (.srt / .txt), SAMI (.smi),
SubStation Alpha (.ssa/.txt),
MicroDVD (.sub/.txt), SubViewer
1.0 (.sub), SubViewer 2.0 (.sub/.
txt), TMPlayer (.txt), DVD Subtitle
System (.txt)"

.srt is an industry standard format. It does not matter what program is used to create the .srt file, the format is exactly the same in each case. That is like saying "It can play avi files, but only avi files that were created by Nero encoder". The reason it isn't working is due to lazy programmers. It would be great to support INDUSTRY STANDARD FORMAT srt files.

Answer:
We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this BluRay player. According to the notes on page 11 of the owner’s manual, playing video subtitle files are only available on DLNA media server created by supplied Nero MediaHome 4 Essentials software on this player package.

Memory Stick Supported Formats?

My memory stick is currently formatted FAT, which my LG can read fine, unfortunately, that format does not accept large video files. I've tried formatting EXFAT, but the LG will not read it. Since there are various options when formatting to EXFAT, is there any EXFAT format that the LG WILL read? Thanks.

Answer:
This player supports USB Flash Drives / external HDD formatted in FAT16, FAT32 and NTFS when accessing files (audio, photo, video). However, for BD-Live and Audio CD recording, only FAT16 and FAT32 formats are supported.
