I have an insignia 37" HDTV but 720p. Will this device work with that and just upgrade picture thru device to 1080p quality?

Answer:
You TV is only capable of 720, so no, no device attached to it will ever be 1080. But, yes, you can hook it up it will work. On 37" you could never tell the quality difference between 720 and 1080 anyways, so you are good to go.

Answer:
Yes you can use this with a 720p TV. However the picture will still be displayed at 720p as this is the best resolution your TV is able to display. The Blu-ray play can not upgrade the picture beyond limitations of the TV.

I hoped I could access Amazon Prime videos since this is a Smart player, but I cannot. I emailed the company trying to find an LG Blu-Ray player that works with Amazon Prime and received this response. I wish the answer was different, but I'm happy to get a complete answer.
"I’m afraid since 2012, Amazon VOD has only been available for LG Smart TVs, and not bluray players, home theaters and/or smart Tv upgraders. As much as I would love to assist you, I find myself unable to guarantee that there will be an update to add Amazon back to our boxed goods since we haven’t received any official notification from factory."

Answer:
I have never tried but most likely this will not work. It is not an LG limitation but a Wifi limitation. I believe that TV and BluRay devices are more like endpoints. they are not designed to link up to one another to transmit data. There are wireless HD standards that are evolving but i don' t think they have been widely adopted or deployed yet.

Answer:
No, this is not possible with just the TV and player. The purpose of the wifi capabilities is have access to your network through the device (your TV or bluray player), meaning the apps on the devices can access your network, or internet without and Ethernet cable. It cannot stream the picture from the player to the TV.

Now, there are wireless streaming devices that can take your HDMI out of the bluray and connect it wirelessly to your TV but this is not actually over your "wifi" network. Those units can be quite costly, don't work reliably, involve compression (picture quality degradation) and are not typically recommended.

Answer:
No you cannot. I would not recommend using WiFi for anything streaming video anyways.
Just connect it up via HDMI and you'll be happy.

Model BP530, getting smartphone remote app to work

I downloaded the iPhone LG remote for audio and video devices app, but the app can't detect the device. I don't see any onscreen app or control either through the blueray player. Please let me know how to connect these devices. Thanks.

There are several remote apps for lg players for this model you want the "LG AV remote 3" app. I had the same issue and using this app worked when the other ones didn't.

We regret the inconvenience you have experienced in this matter. The BluRay player and the iPhone must both be on your home computer network in order for these apps to be compatible. If you have additional questions about this setup, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

Whenever I want to watch something from Internet it takes ages to load it up. My internet speed is good 16Mb and I bought this TV 2 weeks ago. I even plugged the LAN cable into the TV in order to make it faster. If I buy Google TV would I have advantages and potentially faster speed?

Thanks

Answer:
Built in apps on TV's (smart TV's) are clunky, slow and cumbersome. Smart TV's are really not all they are cracked up to be. You would be better off adding an Apple TV or Roku to get even more "smart' capabilities than what the TV offers. In addition, you will be able to more easily get that sound through and amplifier or surround sound system.

The first thing we do on installs is turn off EVERY smart capability a TV has as they are all pretty worthless. More marketing hoopla than actual usefulness.

Answer:
Your down speed is fine. However you never know the speed at your source. It will only download as fast as the lowest denominator.
If the other end only does 2mb up you will only get the 2mb down.
The google tv will not make it faster.
Hope this makes sense.

Answer:
Carval, You selected an excellent TV, but you should use the features of the LG Blu-Ray player and it's internet connection as a primary source into your TV. Keep in mind it is always easier (if not cheaper) to replace the DVD than it is to replace the TV. Smart TVs are nice, but look closer at using the features of the DVD player first.
Good luck.
