What People Are Saying

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by useless for blue ray I played DVD's couple of times when I bought the unit, it worked fine. Later (much later) found it from drawer again and tried to use for blue ray, it simply wont play blue ray. Useless waste of money. March 2, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by 3.5 stars Only probem with this product is I cannot Record blueray discs with this machine,as describrd by store December 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works great with my laptop Bought to work with my laptop and really works out great. Love it. March 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by It does everything I wanted it to do. Needed to install old programs onto my new slim laptop. Installation went without a problem. Played a Blu-ray movie with no problems. Have not tried to burn any disc yet. It is compact and easy to carry in computer bag. No problems so far. February 4, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Doesn't work, doesn't play Blu-ray A terrible, overpriced product. It will not play some discs I have played on numerous other devices. When it does play a movie, there often are so many annoying stutters and pauses that I have to shut it off. And it absolutely will not play Blu-ray discs, despite the claims. Considering that this is one of the main reasons I bought it, that’s a major drawback. I tried patching the software that came with it many times, but that didn’t work. The people at Cyberlink, which makes the software, assure me it’s not a software problem, that the drive is faulty. LG is responsible for providing the software, anyway, so either their version of the software is flawed, or the drive itself is. This is on a brand-new, fully updated laptop with all the current drivers. Unfortunately I lost the receipt and can’t return it. So I’m stuck with this useless product. Don’t make the same mistake. Rated 5 out of 5 by One of the finest and smallest drives I have owned From the get go, this drive stands out. It is a burner, a blu ray burner, and a great player regular and blu ray. November 26, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 poor perfomance This player will hardly run a disk if there is the the most minute speck of anything on the disk it will not play clean the disk 5 times and maybe it will play likely it will not the disk I am trying to play is new I have only played 6 disk with this player as no other disk will play November 2, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Perfect for It's Purpose This drive works great for playing my Blu-Ray movies. October 26, 2013

Is there an AC adapter or does it draw all it's power from a single USB connection?

Answer:
There are many low energy consumption peripherals that can be powered by the current in a USB port. The CP40NG10 is one of them. If you connect these items to a non-powered USB hub, they may not get enough current to work.

Answer:
This drive supports bd-re for playback purposes only and not for burning. If you are trying to burn blu-ray discs with this machine it will not happen. This is a blu-ray player and dvd/cd player/burner. Hope this gets you on the right track!

Answer:
Yes, the disc that is included with this drive is compatible with Windows machines. As such, the disc will not be compatible with your computer. You will need to find other compatible disc-authoring software that will be compatible with your MacBook.

The Cp40 says its mac compatible

To follow up with the above question. Will a Macbook running OSX not recognize the drive at all until you can get it installed? I'm confused because the disk provided is for windows. What would be an alternative disc authoring program to use?

Answer:
The disc simply contains operating software for Windows-based computers. It does not contain device drivers. These are provided by the computer’s Operating System. As such, the computer should still be able to recognize the drive. According to the specifications on this unit, this drive is compatible with Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Mac OS. It needs a Pentium D 3.2 GHz or higher with a USB 2.0 port. It requires a compatible graphics card: nVidia: GeForce 7600GT or higher; GeForce 8400 or higher; ATI: ATI Radeon HD 2400 or higher. The graphics card driver has to meet AACS compliance criteria. The computer must also have at least 1 GB of RAM, and 60 GB of available hard drive capacity. Unfortunately, we have no information available related to MAC-compatible disc authoring software.
