Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does everything I wanted it to do. Needed to install old programs onto my new slim laptop. Installation went without a problem. Played a Blu-ray movie with no problems. Have not tried to burn any disc yet. It is compact and easy to carry in computer bag. No problems so far.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work, doesn't play Blu-ray A terrible, overpriced product. It will not play some discs I have played on numerous other devices. When it does play a movie, there often are so many annoying stutters and pauses that I have to shut it off. And it absolutely will not play Blu-ray discs, despite the claims. Considering that this is one of the main reasons I bought it, that’s a major drawback. I tried patching the software that came with it many times, but that didn’t work. The people at Cyberlink, which makes the software, assure me it’s not a software problem, that the drive is faulty. LG is responsible for providing the software, anyway, so either their version of the software is flawed, or the drive itself is. This is on a brand-new, fully updated laptop with all the current drivers. Unfortunately I lost the receipt and can’t return it. So I’m stuck with this useless product. Don’t make the same mistake.

How does the CP40NG10 draw power? Is there an AC adapter or does it draw all it's power from a single USB connection?
Asked by: gatnus
It uses 2 usb connections - and no AC adapter - to power itself.

Why can't I use Verbatim Blue -ray disc's BD-R recordable with 25 gb ?

Asked by: Abby
We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this drive. According to our information, a standard BD-R disc should be compatible with this drive, when there is data on the disc already. This drive does not have the capability of writing data to a BluRay disc.

Why can't I burn a CD with this LG CP40 drive on my Macbook Pro using iTunes?

The desktop recognizes the drive. When I put a blank disc in the LG external drive the computer recognizes that and starts the prompt for burning cds in iTunes. When I click on FILE----> Burn playlist to Disc the next screen has the LG drive as an option. But when I click BURN iTunes asks me to insert a blank CD and it keeps flashing at the top. Why doesn't this drive work? What am I doing wrong or forgetting?
Asked by: MillyJ
We regret the difficulty you have experienced with this drive. It is recommended to insert the blank CD after the iTunes prompt requests it. If this still does not resolve the matter, then it would be recommended to contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 in order to troubleshoot the situation.

CP40NG10 not reading a Blu-Ray Disc

I recently received the Star Wars Saga Blu-Ray set. For some reason the Bonus Disc Two from the set cannot be read by my CP40NG10 player. So far it is the only Blu-Ray Disc that I cannot play. Is there anything that can be done to get the disc to play?
Asked by: JeremyN
We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this player. As this disc is a Bonus Disc, it is likely that this may have a different formatting than those other discs in the set. This alternate formatting may be incompatible with the software on your computer. The software on the computer would provide the only limitation to what can be read by the drive. It is recommended to check your software and its compatibilities to see if the disc might require something more.

My disc has stopped accepting discs

I notice that in the center there is no holder where a disc can get attached: there is only a small screw like knob about 1-2 mm size that cannot possibly hold a disc: it is surrounded by a flat surface with no holder. If there is a diagram that shows the appearance of the holding tray that would help to decide whether disc needs to be returned to you for further action.
Asked by: Mancando
I apologize, but no; we do not have a diagram available that shows the disc tray for this device. If the unit does not operate properly, then it would be recommended to contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 for assistance.

lg cp40ng10 help

I just recently puchased this product and also a memorex bd-re disc. When I put disc in it says its full. I try to format or erase and it gives me media not supported. Thinking the disc is bad I purchased a 3 pack of same item. It does the same thing on all 3 discs. So now I have 4 disc that are usless. Can someone please tell me how I can format these discs in your product that says on the box supports bd-re discs so I can perform what I bought the product for? Thank you
Asked by: Jeffery
This drive supports bd-re for playback purposes only and not for burning. If you are trying to burn blu-ray discs with this machine it will not happen. This is a blu-ray player and dvd/cd player/burner. Hope this gets you on the right track!
