What People Are Saying

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Initially Great, Then Bootloop will get you I bought this phone ~June 2016. Recently the browser, maps, and other items seem to be running very slow (lagging way behind when I touched the screen). Today in the middle of an emergency at work the phone went into bootloop. It just says Google on teh screen and tries to startup but then just turns off. I cannot even access my contact list to call people at work since the phone does not start. You just don't realize how dependent you are on these devices until they break. My review will improve based on whether LG can replace it or offer a way to fix it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bootloop I bought nexus 5x in start of 2016. It was updated and going good, but few days ago it was stuck and black screen appears. I tried to start again but nothing appears after 4 hours i started again, it started but it hangs on google logo and then black screen. I showed it to an expert he told me that your phone is dead. It can not be repaired. I tried many online solutions but those did not work for phone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phone in bootloop I have had the loop just over one year without any issues. Then suddenly one day the phone would not boot. It was in a bootloop and kept on saying Google. LG fixed it for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for 2 years then updates..... I purchased in fall of 2015. Phone was solid phone until I tried to upgrade from Android 7 to 8 summer of 2017. The upgrade bricked my phone. Contacted Google who replaced the phone. Again all was good until I did Security Dec 5 2015 updates. Then the call screen had issues, as soon as you made a call the screen would go blank and would freeze. You could no access the screen which is not good. Contacted Google and they walked through doing a reset but still had issues. So this is 2x within 6 months that updates has broken my Nexus 5x. This is unfortunate since all the press states that you should always update for security reasons.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Initially great Phone was great at first, but within the year of having it, it has gotten stuck in the infamous boot loop. I see that this is a very common issue and a lot of people are having this problem. It started the loop out of nowhere on a full charge. Will not spend this kind of money again for a phone that lasts maybe a year or two.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great phone, great product service If I were rating LG here, it would be a 5. Since it's the phone -- a 4, due to a hardware failure. I've had the phone for over a year now, and ran into the boot loop issue, which quickly got worse, to the point of not booting at all, and then being totally unresponsive. But LG covered it under warranty, even though it was a little past the warranty date -- probably because it's a known issue with the 5x. However, they replaced the board and sent it back to me, and all works well. If it lasts another year, it was easily a good investment. Even at this point, it was an acceptable purchase. Five stars to their handling of the warranty replacement. As to the features -- this is a good slim phone with a nice weighty feel, without being too heavy. The camera is great -- with the HD processing that is done by default, I get excellent low-light photographs for a phone -- easily comparable in general in photographs to the iPhone, and even better in low light. The interface is nice and zippy as well, and I haven't had any problems with app load time. Battery life isn't excellent, but isn't at all bad, either -- definitely on the good side.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from defective product Two year old phone has hardware failure, no warranty support, lg will not sell me a new motherboard even though the case, screen, phone and other other components are perfectly fine. Would not buy any lg merchandise after dealing with this issue, look into how many of their various models turn into junk right after warranty expires. Phone was always in a case, never wet, well cared for.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from We purchased two. Both failed in just over a year. My wife and I bought two of these phones. After approximately 1 year, mine wouldn't turn on. It just repeatedly cycled through the startup screen. I was told by LG that this was a know issue with the phone, so I mailed in the phone and it was repaired. Shortly after this, my wife's phone had the same problem. We mailed it in as well and were told that the phone broke because of water damage.
