Interactive Touch Screens and 3D Monitors Highlight New Solutions
LAS VEGAS, Feb. 27, 2008 - LG Electronics bombards tactile and visual senses with its latest line of digital signage monitors that enhance interaction and the overall customer experience. Led by a new 3D monitor and a triple view screen, LG is showcasing its broad range of interactive solutions at the Digital Signage Expo 2008 this week in Las Vegas (Booth#723).
“Integrators demand creative signage solutions that not only help attract and engage customers but work within the space they have,” said Ron Snaidauf, vice president, Commercial Products, LG Electronics USA, Inc. “LG’s digital signage offerings not only meet this demand, but also provide new interactive elements that engage your senses, extending the customer experience beyond the point-of-sale.”
ENGAGE THE EYES
The first new LG digital signage concept to engage the eyes is the prototype LG “Triple View” 47-inch class* LCD panel, ideal for advertising and engaging multiple consumers at one time. Customers view three different images or advertisements based upon their angle of view to the monitor. The monitor is “Full HD” capable with a 1080 x 1920 (in portrait orientation) display resolution.
Second, LG’s new True3D monitor treats customers to an interactive three-dimensional viewing experience without the hassle of special glasses. Model M4210D-B21 uses stereopsis to provide an engaging alternative to traditional digital signage. The 3D monitor has interactive elements and a compact 42-inch class* screen with full HD 1920 x 1080 display resolution.
Also creating visual excitement that engages the eyes are LG’s new 29-inch and 38-inch class* “stretch screens” that offer the latest in slim display technology (models M3800S and M2900S). Built for space-conscious retailers, the M3800S and M2900S are roughly half the height of a traditional HD display.
These monitors allow for a variety of installation options and are ideally suited for end cap placement and narrow or hard-to-fit installations, including retail or grocery market environments.
SATISFY THE TOUCH
Two new LCD Touch Screen models, the 32-inch class* M3201T and the 42-inch class* M4210T, engage customers’ tactile senses. Interactive technology offerings provide access to unique programming for customers such as real-time weather reports and point-of-purchase transactions, online customer service and support. Highly scratch resistant screens support the latest dispersive signal touch technology (DST). Both touch screens incorporate Super IPS panels offering a viewing angle of 178 degrees and 1366 x768 (WXGA) display resolution that enable content to be viewed at almost any angle.
Complementing these LG touch-screens is an innovative LG concept product featuring “no-touch” technology from Solaris Labs. This technology, on display in the LG Electronics booth, is optimized for navigation through music, movies and animation content as well as wayfinding – with a simple wave of the hand. LG Electronics is exploring this cutting-edge technology that works with digital signage displays ranging from the 32-inch class size to large interactive video walls.
FIND NEW FLEXIBILITY
With an emphasis on versatility for digital signage customers, LG Electronics is also showcasing a new 42-inch class* digital signage model (M4210N-B21) with an integrated controller. Capable of portrait (vertical) or landscape (horizontal) orientation, this model features a narrow 29 mm bezel. With a “Super IPS” viewing angle of 178 degrees, the display can be viewed from nearly any angle. These enhancements in viewing angle and long-term performance in portrait mode, further address the digital signage industry’s need for maximizing space, flexibility and customization.
A highlight of the LG Electronics Digital Signage Expo booth is a live demonstration of Unotchit Inc.’s patented LongPen™ technology, the first long distance, real-time, real pen and ink writing and signing device. Representing a giant leap forward in marketing and publicity, it operates over the Internet and incorporates video conferencing, allowing celebrities to meet with fans and to sign autographs for them from anywhere in the world without actually being at the event location.
The LongPen™ demonstrations, hosted by LG Electronics and featuring LG’s 32-inch LCD HDTV display, will include Norm Hitzges, author and Ron St. Angelo, Photographer of “The Greatest Team Ever – The Dallas Cowboys Dynasty of the 1990’s” signing books from Dallas, Texas. This technology complements LG’s digital signage offerings, promising to make a retail store a destination where fans can interact with their favorite authors, musicians, actors, athletes, performers and other celebrities.
