LG Electronics Introduces New Guest-Centric Technologies for Hospitality Industry
3D, LED, Pro:Centric and Pro:Idiom HDTV Solutions Bring Hoteliers Secure HD with Interactive Options for Guests
NEW YORK, Nov. 15, 2010 - As the leader in hospitality HD solutions, LG provides hoteliers with the most comprehensive options to meet guest expectations. With an increased focus on hoteliers need for customer loyalty and guest demand for a luxury experience, LG Electronics is displaying new hospitality and lodging solutions designed to meet these needs this week at the 2010 International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show (booth #2105).
LG’s latest line of HDTV displays is led by the company’s first commercial-grade “passive” 3D LCD with polarized 3D glasses and new commercial HD LED displays. (See separate release.) LG is also displaying the LD650H which combines two industry-first technologies from LG, Pro:Centric™, an applications based platform, and Pro:Idiom, the digital rights management system for access to HD content.
LG’s Commercial Air Conditioning division is highlighting a range of HVAC solutions that deliver energy efficient and design-friendly climate control options for hotel operators. (See separate release.)
“As the needs of guests continue to evolve, LG continues to present hoteliers a variety of display and technology options to differentiate themselves in the marketplace and provide an experience that will bring guests back again,” said Ron Snaidauf, vice president, Business Solutions, LG Electronics USA. “With the introduction of our first-ever commercial 3D HDTV and the combination of our Pro:Centric/Pro:Idiom display technologies we can provide a new entertainment experience away from home.”
Combining Industry Firsts with Pro:Centric and Pro:Idiom
LG’s LD650H combines the enhanced capabilities of Pro:Centric to improve guests’ accommodations by providing both luxurious and home-like experiences with the hotel preferred HD-encryption technology of Pro:Idiom. LG has built on its Pro:Centric standards-based applications platform to include two-way communication technology that can make up-to-the-minute guest interaction more dynamic and easy for hoteliers.
The latest Pro:Centric technology also supports both Flash and Java, allowing hotel management to deliver a wider range of customized content and services. The two-way communication ready LD650H series enables hotel guests to book spa appointments, order room service or even book a tee time right through the TV. This series gives hoteliers the option to provide their guests with an Electronic Interactive Program Guide. This amenity allows guests to access broadcast information and advanced channel search and selection capabilities, like they do at home. Additionally, with Pro:Centric, hoteliers are able to tailor welcome menus, giving rooms an added personal and hospitable touch.
A cost-effective way for hotels to deliver uniform services and features across both RF (radio frequency) and IP (Internet protocol) based networks, Pro:Centric is an easy retrofit. There is no need for additional hardware such as set top boxes or an upgrade to existing infrastructure.
Additional LD650H LCD Series details:
• Providing versatility and excellent picture quality, the LD650H series is available in 32-, 37-, 42-, 47- and 55-inch class* sizes and displays content in full 1080p HD (32-inch class displays 720p) with a 50,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio for clean, crisp picture.
• This series comes in either a high-gloss black finish or black matte finish (LD655H only 42-, 37-, and 32-inch class sizes*) for a sleek, modern look.
• The LD650H series is ENERGY STAR® 4.0 qualified and RoHS compliant.
All Guests Deserve HD
For hoteliers looking to simply upgrade to sleek, HD-ready flat-panel displays, LG is showing its latest Pro:Idiom models – the LH250H and LH260H. These series include built-in b-LAN™, which gives full support to Pro:Idiom encrypted HD content –LodgeNet®’s HD Video-On-Demand and other Free-To-Guest system providers. Additionally, hoteliers can map channels, clone commercial installer menu settings and make other adjustments for each room’s display when b-LAN is connected to LG’s centralized, head-end Free-to-Guest Management Appliance system – FMA-LG 100 or FMA-LG 101 (only FMA-LG 100 with LH250H). This saves on time and excess staff labor.
The LH250H series comes in either a high-gloss black or matte black finish (LH255H) at a 32-inch class size* and offers 720p HD resolutions. The LH260H is available in a 37- and 42-inch class size* in a high-gloss black or matte black finish (LH265H only 37-inch class size*) with 1080p HD resolution. Both series incorporate USB 2.0, which supports JPEG and MP3 files from a USB storage device, so guests have even more entertainment options.
These models (as well as the LD650H series) also have LG’s EcoSmart™ technology, which allows for multiple manual and automatic options for energy conservation, making it ideal for commercial environments that are also energy-conscientious. EcoSmart includes multiple power saving settings and one or more of LG’s energy saving features:
• Dynamic Power Savings – reduces power consumption and optimizes picture settings.
• Static Power Savings – allows the installer to set the preferred power consumption level.
• Intelligent Sensor – allows integrators to program the LD650H to respond to the ambient light in the room and automatically reduce brightness and energy output under most circumstances.
