Thin Film

LG is currently developing the tandem type which uses a wide light wavelength range for high power generation efficiency, and announced the thin film solar cell with initial efficiency rate of 11.1% in 2010. A pilot line has been established and is currently underway to increase efficiency.

The current efficiency rate is around 17.6%, but is planned to reach 18% level by 2012 for its release. There is no significant increase in cost as it is simply added to the otherwise low cost multicrystalline wafer, while efficiency is greatly improved.
