  • A. LG Monitors have an RS232 control port to allow remote access for on/off, switching inputs etc. The commands and format of these commands is listed in the Appendix of the operator manual for each Monitor type. A sample test program with notes for RS232 control is available at www.lgrs232.com.
  • A. eZ-Net Manager is a Digital Signage solution that allows easy control of one or more monitors via a network or serial connection. Simply load the eZ-Net Manager application from the CDROM that normally is included with the monitor and use it to control the monitor.
  • A. To use LG Monitors in Tile mode, one needs to daisy chain the displays together. Currently, using the RGB-IN and RGB-Out for each Monitor. Newer model Monitors will allow other inputs/outputs to be used i.e. DVI.
Connect the originating content input to the first Display "RGB-IN then connect the "RGB-OUT of that display to the 2nd display "RGB-in" and so on.
Using the Remote Control, access the Menu display for each Monitor and select "Tile"
Turn Tile mode on to the desired setting 1X2 , 3X3 etc.
Select Tile ID (1 = first display, 2 = second etc) left to right and bottom to top.
These settings will now divide the input content between the numbered displays to create a tile/wall.
  • Many LG Monitors have power saving modes that save power by blanking the display when no signal is present on the selected inputs for a period of time.
This is usually a selectable option on the Monitors.
Access the Monitor Menu using the Remote Control.
On some models the DPM is the power monitor setting that handles this. Verify the "DPM Select" option is "Off". This disables the power saving mode.
  • A. Most LG monitors have the ability to turn on and off through a time schedule. This function is normally found in the "Time" menu item. The on/off time and dates are selected by Day of week, hour and minute. Verify the Clock in the Monitor is correctly set to insure correct on/off timing.
  • A. Currently, most LG monitors do not have battery back up for the clock/time. If main AC power is lost, the clock time must be manually set to the correct date/time.
  • A. LG monitors can display pictures, movies and play music if speakers are connected. The main menu identifies an "USB" selection that allows selection of the pictures, movies or music found on a connected USB Flash Drive. Typical file types supported are Photo: jpg only, Music: mpeg,mp3,vob, Movies: mpeg1,2,4 and Divx. Review the specific model operators manual for all files types available for each model.
  • A. IR pass thru pulses use pin 4 on the RS232 control port DB9 connector.
  • A. Digital inputs i.e. HDMI, are less affected by length than analog but it depends on data speed and cable quality. Recommended not to exceed 50Ft for HDMI even with the best cables.
  • A. External Speakers are available for wiring and mounting to most Large Monitors. Review the associated Operators manual for connection type and locations for each monitor.
  • A. When the Monitor does not detect video signals on the currently selected input, this message is displayed. Select the monitor menu and verify the correct input source is selected. Also, verify there is video signal present on the interface cable connected to that selected input.
  • A. When using a monitor in the Portrait Mode, turn the Monitor clockwise from the normal Landscape position.
  • A. In most Monitors, there is no setting for Portrait mode. Displayed content must be created in a Portrait format by the user prior to saving on a USB Flash Drive for the Monitors to display.
  • A. Besides the "www.lgrs232.com" web site notes, there are some standards to follow regarding command timing.
When sending commands, the following timing restraints should be followed:
Delay 8 seconds before sending additional commands after a "power on command."
Delay 2 seconds after a Source change command.
Delay 1 second after sending an Aspect Ratio change command.
Delay 0.16 seconds for all other commands.
Finally, the Monitor must have a valid SET ID value. Default on most monitors is "off".
The Set ID must be a number between 1-99.
  • A. Use the Input remote control button to select RGB-PC or HDMI as the PC input source. The Monitors normally will detect the PC settings (aspect ratio etc) when PC is connected. Otherwise, set the Monitor aspect ratio to 1:1 to display whatever the PC is sending.
  • A. LG Monitors will return to the ON state if the AC power is lost while the Monitor is ON.
  • A. The Key Lock function is set by the user to prevent unwanted changes to the On Screen Display settings. Key Lock ON message indicates the Key Lock function has been activated. To release this setting, simultaneously press the MENU button key on the Monitor and the right arrow ">" key for several seconds.
  • A. The Ez-Net Manager can be used with a standard Ethernet cable connected from the Monitor to the controlling PC.
  • A. LG Monitors may have a default "SET ID value of "0". When using the RS232 port for control of the Monitors, the "SET ID" value must be a number from 1 to 99.This setting is used to identify Monitors when controlling multiple units.
