What People Are Saying

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Piece of junk This will be my 2nd repair request for this microwave since I purchased it 1.5 years ago. It just stops heating. I've had maybe 2 other microwaves in my lifetime and they were replaced just due to appearance....both still worked when I replaced them (they were at least 10 years old when I finally gave them away!! - and I never had to have them repaired.) The first time I had this item repaired, the repair person told us "not to open the microwave prior to pressing stop on the oven, you cannot open the microwave mid-cycle".....try explaining this to children and teenagers.....this seems to be a flaw in the design and functionality of this machine. I'd wish to get this item replaced - as I'm hoping this is just a bad microwave! I'm waiting to see how LG responds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost Perfect This is my second LG microwave and my house is full of their stuff. This is easily the nicest wave I've ever owned and fits in perfectly in my gourmet kitchen. Sleek, powerful, beautifully built and with every feature in the book except one. There's no timer! How LG could possibly overlook adding a simple kitchen timer to the design is a mystery, but I bought it anyway. No regrets; just a bit of frustration. Keep up the great work, LG.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stopped working after 20 months Although one of LG's lower models it should last more than 20 months.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great looking microwave Bought this microwave primarily for the looks and we are very happy overall. I didn't score it a 5 star since although there are a lot of nice keyboard features, there isn't any single button for 1 or more minute cooking. Also, the front door latch isn't align properly to the opening even though it's straight when shut.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful but missing one thing I really like this microwave. It has a lot of simple settings that make cooking easier. It's beautiful and simple to clean. The only thing I really miss is there is no timer. I'm used to using my microwave to time things I'm cooking in my range or other activities.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from so many features I bought this LG over-the-range microwave and LG range together. I love the size and am still learning how to use all the features. Love it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Missing many extras Pros: As a microwave, it works fine. 1000 watts re-warms my coffee. Cons: No kitchen timer The light underneath is really just a night light. Can't turn off the turn table (yes, that is an option on other ovens). Very loud fan. Can't change the power on the fly. It's minor, but really handy (also available on other ovens)

is the turn table supposed to turn continuely-mine has a jurkey motion

Asked by: jmrycan
We appreciate your interest in this microwave oven. The turn-table is designed to run fairly smoothly, although it is not uncommon for there to be some inconsistency in the motion, which can depend upon the weight of the item on the tray. As long as the device turns, it is likely running properly.

Clock color

We just purchased a new LG microwave (LMV1683ST 2015) and the clock/display is green. We also purchased an LG stove/range that has a bluish/lavender color clock. Our 5 year old LG Fridge also have the bluish/lavender display. Why is the microwave display green? It's not consistent with the other products. Why? Is there a way to change the green display to match with the others?
Asked by: REM1834
We found this annoying as well. I just hit the energy saving button on the microwave so it doesn't display the clock.

I bought this microwave and we love it, recently our kitchen was remodeled and the workers through out the old filters. I bought new ones but they seem to fit rather loosely. Is there a bracket that was maybe tossed out as well or do they just fit loose?

Asked by: Robert22
We appreciate your interest in this microwave oven. It is not uncommon for filters to be able to move to a slight degree, after installation. They are held in by a spring latch. No brackets were used for this installation.

Dumb question...but one of the kids meant to put in the timer on this microwave and accidentally put the microwave on High for 2:00. The microwave caught fire, the top of it where the plastic and metal piece are. Is that normal for a microwave?

Asked by: Jfg71
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this microwave oven. It is never recommended to allow a microwave oven to run while empty. Doing so can cause the interior to start producing some electrical arcing, which can lead to melting or a fire. While it is not intended to run in this fashion, doing so can certainly cause the results which have been noted.

Installation instructions for over the range microwave.

I just purchased an LG over the range microwave at an outlet store, it was a display model, but it didn't come with the template for installing it. Is there anyway I can get it through your company? The model number is LMV 1683SB.

Why does the microwave fan exhaust at two spots but only one charcoal filter? Also, where do you buy the charcoal filters?
Asked by: jabenedetti
We appreciate your interest in this microwave oven. The unit is designed with 2 grease filters as generally there is a light on the bottom of a microwave oven, positioned between the 2 filters, as well as these filters being positioned in such a manner as to be located specifically over the standard burner locations of the oven. Both locations combine into one vent duct to pass through the 1 charcoal filter, in the event that the vent fan is left to vent out the front of the unit. If the fan was turned UP, or to the BACK during installation, then the charcoal filter is irrelevant. Accessories can be obtained through our parts distributor, MCM Electronics. Their contact number, for placing orders, is 800-824-9491. You can also use their website, at The part number for this filter is 5230W1A011C.

noise while running

This microwave is so noisy that we can't watch TV while it is running. Is there a suggestion of how to make it quiet or should I just sell it and get a new one. Where can I found the noise levels when I read the specifics of each model.
Asked by: Catfla
We found the metal filter inside the unit was improperly installed. This caused it to make a terrible sound whenever it was on. Fortunately, this machine is complete garbage and has required frequent repairs, so we had the first repair person take care of the misaligned filter. The mircowave now runs quietly when its actually in working order (about 70% of the time since we bought it).
