Rated 5 out of 5 by Bud This product has great features
I purchased this because I wanted to watch movies on my desktop. I was very impressed with the quality of picture and sound from a small and compact player. This does a lot more than just playback movies. It can burn discs as like the internal bay drives in your computer. In my computer I cannot play Blu-ray DVD movies because, It only has a analog flat screen 22 inch wide screen pc monitor. But you can purchase an HDMI connecter that will plug in to a USB port that would allow you to connect it to your HDMI TV.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Austin I don't know why they discontinued this.?.?.?
This is an awesome burner, I have not had any trouble using it, though it burns slow "slower burn speeds are better". I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great portable burner with light scribe technology and Blu-Ray Burning capabilities to boot.!.!.!

It was useless. On top of the purchase price before you can use it you have to pay for a software upgrade to use it.

I wanted a Blu-ray burner without having to install one internally. This one was just what I was looking for. A single layer Blu-ray disc holds a lot of digital photos!

Rated 4 out of 5 by jackeisen Exellent value for the money
I found this drive very easy to use and it does an excellent job. Be careful of the requirements to install this drive. This box does not have the necessary software to operate all the functions on the box. I had to purchase the software separately. I would recommend this drive.

There is a real problem knowing what to use to backup digital photos and videos that may take up hundreds of gigabytes of space. Online backup is limited in size, local hard drives fail after 3 to 5 years. The only viable option is a local RAID server, but even that is expensive and does not allow for "off premises" copies. So Blu-ray offers the best option for multiple copies. This drive is not the fastest, but with some patience it works well, especially with Ashampoo's free V6 authoring software that is available from CNET downloads. You can make copies to send to friends and relatives who have compatible Blu-ray drives. One bit of advice, use high quality disks like Panasonic and Verbatim because the archival life of Blu-ray may be shorter than CD/DVD's.

Very inexpensive burner. I like that it does not require a separate power cord. A little noisy, but outstanding for the price.
