"After messing around with every possible way to get windows onto a computer with no CD Drive (indows 7 backup fails miserably in soo many ways). I finally stopped by to get one of these drives.
Plugged it in (used 2 USB ports, one for power and one ofr power and data) , computer recognized it on the first boot to the BIOS and off i was booting to my windows disc to install windows 7.
I see a previous review knocked some stars off because they couldnt get it to copy a CD... I am not convinced that is a problem of the drive itself, but the software the user is trying to burn with. It came with some demo like software, but really the windows 7 burning utilities are good enough now between audio/mp3 CD support in WMP, image burning and DVD video burning in the new windows DVD maker. So, I have not tried the software, but I also do not consider that a part of the device I purhased. It is like buying a laptop and knocking off stars because it came with a norton trial."
"I bought this unit to use with my netbook computer. The fact that it's powered from the USB ports is very convenient and makes it more compact to carry. It has performed as expected and is super easy to use. I wish the store had black ones in stock as I'm not that fond of the white color."
