New LG451EGL - no water collected ever.

I have a damp basement and an old dehumidifier that pulls water daily. I wanted a newer unit and bought the LG451EGL. I took it out of the box, took off the plastic wrap, plugged it in, and turned it on. I has run for two days and is bone dry. Did I miss a step in startup or could I have a defective unit. I turned the old one back and it started pulling water, and clearing up the musty smell, immediately.

Answer: 
This unit is notorious for being a very poor quality product that WILL leak refrigerant over the winter. It is a seal system, so there is no way to recharge it. Originally had a 5 year warranty, now it is only 1 year due to tens of thousands of warranty returns. If you you did get a replacement, it was a REFURBISHED unit with the exact same problem. Very expensive Dehumidifier for 1 years use!

Answer: 
As long as you removed all of the packing material, the unit should be plug and play. I bought the same one and had no problems plugging it in... it was full in 3 days! You may have a defective dehumidifier.

Answer: 
I had the same issue it has to do with the bottom bucket in my case.I put a bungee cord around the whole bucket and fastened it to the back of the dehumidifier.

I have the same problem of noise. I was ready to get rid of the machine as it sets in a basement near a T.V.. I have had my dehumidifier for a few months . It has always been noisey. Otherwise, it works fine.
A partial solution that I can tolerate is that I bought wide strapped bungie cords. I wrapped 2 around the machine to minimize front grill and internal vibrations. The bungie cords are rubberized and help absorb vibrations. I have to undo one of them when I empty the water. Sometimes you have to reposition the cords to find the best locations. To date this system has worked.
I believe the noise reflects poor design, materials, workmanship, and quality control. When my machine dies I look for another brand.

Why has moisture begun to collect on top of the unit ?

Unit has worked well for three years but recently has collected some water on top. Stills works but i am wondering if it is about to fail.

Answer: 
The top is getting cold and sweating. Is the top bent down touching the cold coil underneath? If not put some flat stick on insulation between the coil and metal cabinet.

Tube for hose does not connect

No matter what I do, I cannot attach the tube/hose designed to drain the water directly into my sump pump area. It just won't attach! If I push it up against the little spout, it won't stay in position. As a result I'm forced to empty the bucket twice a day. REALLY annoying. Whats the magic trick needed to make this work????

I had the same problem at first, but then realized that I just had to snap the hose in with a little more force. Once you hear the snap you are good to go.

Answer: 
The drain pipe must be twisted into place on the rubber stopper at the end of the elbow drain hose inside the unit. It must continue to be twisted on until the plastic tab, on the drain pipe, can fit into the slot on the back of the casing.

what year did you sell450eal

bought one 2-3 years ago and before I started it this year I bought
a 451eal.The 450 would not work properly so took to a refigeration place and they told me all freon gone and compressor started to melt down.
Want to know how often this happens and what your track record
is like?
