dehumidifier doesn't shut off when water container is out

I have purhased several over the years and when you pull the water collection container out, the unit shuts off. Just purchased 2 new ones and they keep running when the basket is pulled out. Are they defective? Will the unit shut off when full?
Something seems wrong?

Answer:
While this dehumidifier should stop operating when the tank is not properly in place, we recommend turning the unit off before attempting to remove the tank. Allowing the unit to be operating when the bucket is removed can lead to water dripping onto the floor. It is recommended to check the cut-off plunger switch to see if it might simply be stuck. If this does not resolve the matter, then the unit may require service. My LHD65E runs good but does not draw moisture from the air.

I have a hose connected and it is dry. The current humudity is always at 65%. The set point is 45%. I replaced the fan motor about 1 & 1/2 years ago. The unit appears to be running normally. The compressor and fan are running. I have the unit set on two hour timer. The unit is six years old. What is wrong with it?

Answer:
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this dehumidifier. If no moisture is being removed from the room, then either no moisture is present, or there is a problem with the sealed system of the product itself. This could be a problem with the compressor, condenser coils, evaporator coils, capillary tubes, or the coolant content in the lines. It seems that this unit may require service.
