Problem with door on LDF9810ST dishwasher

I started to open the door on my dishwasher and the door dropped immediately like nothing was holding it. When I closed it and opened it again, it would have fallen straight down if I would not have had a hold on it. Does this indicate some sort of spring problem?

Answer:
We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this dishwasher. Certain dishes do not dry, depending upon the materials with which they are made. If they are plastic, the material does not retain the heat necessary to dry automatically. If this is not the case, then the unit may possibly require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

unit not functioning

Purchased 8/2009, used twice weekly at most. Unit has never cleaned dishes properly. Running full load on power scrub setting, extra rinse and 160' high temp. unit began making a grinding/whining noise , very hot " electrical smell", stopped working. Panel not lit, interior LED lighting working, water in unit.

I have an LG LDF95810ST dishwasher that at first seemed to work wonderful. Over the past couple of years, I have noticed that the dishes do not get very clean and they come out wet after the cycle is complete. The dishwasher does not release any of the Jet Dry, so we replaced the compartment, but it still will not release any Jet Dry. (I have run it for 3 months now and the Jet Dry compartment is still full.) Does this dishwasher use only the hot water from the line, or is there a heater that heats the water to sanitize the dishes? And how does the dishwasher dry the dishes? Is there a heater or fan that could possibly not be working? We had plastic melt on the bottom rack when we first got it, and now we can't get them clean or dry. Trying to figure out what may be wrong.

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this dishwasher. There is a heating element located in the lower housing of the SUMP Assembly. If this is causing trouble, then we would recommend contacting a qualified service technician.
