Whisper-Quiet Operation

Whisper-Quiet Operation

LG's technological advances, like the Inverter DirectDrive motor and a hard food disposer system, were designed with quiet in mind. At 50dB, this dishwasher is among the quietest dishwashers in its class.

Get wise

It's unlikely you'll experience any problems with your LG dishwasher, but if you ever do, this feature helps the service center diagnose problems over the phone, or with a smart phone app, helping you minimize costly, inconvenient service calls.

What People Are Saying

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Got a lemon on this one... Two repair calls for error codes nE and OE and it's only nine months old. Have a three-year-old fridge from LG that has never had a problem. Must've just gotten a bad dishwasher. Come on LG get it together!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just purchased today. I already do not like that the child lock feature only works when it's on. Unfortunately, due to it being energy savy, even if I turn it on it doesn't stay on more than 5 minutes. I have a child with Autism that plays obsessively with our appliances, so the child lock feature needs to be working even when it's not running a cycle. :(

Rated 2 out of 5 by from LG was to cheap to put a clean light on this unit. Do not like the fold down racks that constantly fall over. Power button should be recessed. On several occasions the unit was powered down when someone standing at the counter pressed the power button with their leg. You then have to restart the entire wash cycle. There is also no air dry setting. It is very quiet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only good for looks.. I have had this dishwasher since December 2014 and have had nothing but problems with it. It does not CLEAN my dishes. It has actually ruined a lot of my glasses with stains, which my old plain Jane dishwasher never did. I have used the recommended detergents and tried others, to no avail. I am also the queen of rinsing dishes before putting them in the dishwasher, they are basically clean when they go in so why my dishes come out dirty is beyond me. Occasionally I will get a "clean" glass, but the recommended detergent leaves little granulates all over the dishes too, so I still have to rinse them before use. The top rack sometimes gives way and falls to the lower height when there isn't even a lot of cups loaded, scaring the life out of me since all the dishes clang together when it happens. The bottom adjustable prongs give way and don't hold up. I'll be better off just hand washing everything and using it as a drying rack, but even then I would have to worry about the top rack falling down an potentially breaking my glasses. It is quiet, probably the only good thing about it, well and it makes my kitchen look pretty... But other than that I am very unsatisfied and will buy a different brand in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dishwasher is Awesome This dishwasher does a wonderful job and is easy to use. Love the adjustable racks and the way it runs so quietly. You don't even notice it running!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet Considering this is considered louder than some other new dishwashers, the motor is very quiet, all I really hear is the water swishing around. I've read other reviews saying it doesn't clean and dry dishes well, but after running about 10 loads through, I have always had clean and dry dishes using the normal cycle. The only thing that isn't completely dry are plastic cups and containers but they never come dry in any dishwasher. I have no complaints, works great, looks great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bad rack design This model washes dishes very good, and is quiet, but the lower rack for dishes is not very good the adjustable dividers do not hold plates very good at all. Very dissatisfied.

Ok I see where the dishwasher detergent goes but am trying to find out where my cascade rinse aid goes. Does it go where it says pre wash or the other compartment with the peep hole

Asked by: Brenbren
We appreciate your interest in this dishwasher. According to the information on page 16 of the owner’s manual, RINSE AID additive should be added to the RINSE AID DISPENSER located on the right hand side of the dispenser insert. Location information and replenishing information can be located on this same page.

How can you call it a "child lock" if my child can still turn the unit OFF while it's running. I only purchased this unit because it had the ability to keep my son from interrupting the wash cycle, but it only prevents him from changing the cycle. Really?

Asked by: Bellyhold
We regret your dissatisfaction with the design of this feature. Power is supposed to remain active, as this is used in the activation and deactivation of this feature. If the Power button does not remain active, then it would not be possible to deactivate this Lock.

How can I tell if the wash cycle is complete?  There is nothing to indicate that the dishes have been washed.

Asked by: Caldaley
When the cycle is complete, a chime will sound and the display will show “END”. After a short time, the display and controls will shut off for safety and energy conservation.

I noticed that my under sink cupboard which is just next to the dishwasher is getting extremely hot when I run dishwasher.  This never happened with previous dishwasher. Wondering why. Where does it vent? Old one vented out of the top front. New/no vent.

Asked by: EllieMae
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this dishwasher. This unit is designed to vent near the front door. Whether or not this has been covered by the cabinet will depend upon the manner in which the device was installed.

I'm in the SC Mandatory Boil Water area. It might be weeks before safe water is restored. My water heater is set at 120°F. Will the sanitize setting make my dishes safe to use?

Asked by: Michelle B
Our prayers are with all of you in SC and hope that things can be normalized soon. You really should contact the local Authorities there with regards to what is safe for consumption or use in your home when washing your dishes with the LG Semi-Integrated Dishwasher with Flexible EasyRack™ System, Model # LDS5040ST. According to the sanitization standards for chemical and hot water sanitizing as found in the Rules for Food Establishment Sanitation, the specifications for hot water sanitizing depending on the type of dishwashing machine should have a minimum wash temperature between 150°F (66°C) and 165°F (74°C). The minimum sanitizing rinse temperature should be between 165°F (74°C) and 180°F (82°C) and the maximum sanitizing wash temperature should be between 190°F (90°C) and 195°F (90°C)...^IFV
