No water heater, so less green than advertised
I really like the layout of this washer but its not the green machine I thought it was.
My kitchen sink is the opposite end of the house from the water heater. So unless I've been washing dishes by hand (!) the first few gallons of hot water is cold. The LG LDS5040 is oblivious and just runs with the cold input. It doesn't even have the capability to warm up the water because it uses a hot air blower for the drying cycle.
This seems to me a sideways way of getting a good EnergyStar rating while not being green in practice. I could boil a kettle and throw in some hot before I start, which uses electricity not shown in the annual usage estimate. Or I could run the tap till its hot and use more water than is shown in the per load usage estimate.
I'm not saying its a bad machine. I like the fold-down prongs, triple spinners and adjustable height top rack. Its just that had I been warned, I would have bought a different dish washer. For me, it is less practical than the antique it replaced which was noisy and ugly, but did have a water heater and sensor.
Now I'm going to have to spend the money I saved buying this one on sale to get an under-sink on-demand electric gizmo, so it can drink hot water and clean dishes.

I like the overall design
I am very happy with my new LG Dishwasher there is lots of room for dishes after a large party and the dishes come out sparkling like they should. I am proud to recommend this product to anyone who is shopping for a dishwasher. You won't go wrong if you purchase a LG. Don't just take my word try it you won't be sorry.
