Count on it

When you buy a dishwasher, you want something reliable that you can count on. Because the Direct Drive Motor uses fewer moving parts and operates more efficiently, LG confidently backs the motor with a 10-year limited warranty.

Whisper-Quiet Operation

Whisper-Quiet Operation

LG's technological advances, like the Inverter DirectDrive motor and a hard food disposer system, were designed with quiet in mind. At 50dB, this dishwasher is among the quietest dishwashers in its class.

Get wise

It's unlikely you'll experience any problems with your LG dishwasher, but if you ever do, this feature helps the service center diagnose problems over the phone, or with a smart phone app, helping you minimize costly, inconvenient service calls.

What People Are Saying

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 329 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome. The first dishwasher that my wife was completely happy with. Enough said. August 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent dishwasher! This is a good looking dishwasher with an easy to use control panel! It is extremely quiet gets my dishes sparkling clean! August 8, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Very quiet / issue -Dishes staying upright & Stain Pro: Runs quiet and I like the flexibiliy in the racks. Cons: Plates have difficulty standing up and fall stacked on each other. There is a stain on the insided of the door - I have never seen that occur. It doesn't wipe off so I will attempt to use stain removal. It appears to be smaller / less capacity than our previous dishwasher. Overall, it does fine but I would not purchase again so I cannot recommend this product. July 31, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Worst dishwasher ever! This dishwasher is super quiet, and a chime sounds at the end of the cycle to let you know it's finished. The good features end there. The dishes don't get clean unless I completely wash them by hand before putting them in the dishwasher, even if the dishwasher is only half full. I have checked all the troubleshooting items and found none apply - my water temp and pressure are fine, water jet holes not blocked, dishes are loaded correctly, filters are not clogged, detergent is fine, etc. The photo in the manual shows 10 and 12 place settings loaded - there is NO WAY this dishwasher will even clean 5 place settings. Pots and pans?? Forget that! The silverware doesn't get clean regardless of how I place it in the baskets, and I have tried numerous brands of detergent, so that doesn't seem to be the reason. Nothing is dry at the end of the cycle, even though the rinse agent dispenser is full. My prior dishwasher was 20 years old when it broke - it cleaned 10 times better than this one until it broke and parts were not available. All in all I can't describe how disappointed I am with this dishwasher July 24, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by don.t buy Pros it is very quiet, cleans well. That said,Cons: it takes over 2 hours to wash the dishes. Also I have pottery dishware, they are too wide fro the rack on the bottom. Top rack only works for mugs or low cups bowls, ,my water glasses are too tall to fit, I assumed all dishwashers had same depth for top rack NO! WHAT a let down . now i'm stuck with this stupid machine and still have to wash half my dishes. what a waist of money. What is worse when I complained at the store I BOUGHT THIS AT, THEY SAY oh WELL. July 15, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quiet and efficient I have only had this dishwasher for a few weeks but am totally satisfied with the way it cleans dishes and is so very quiet. June 16, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good dishwasher, but needs a few improvements Pros: Super quiet, cleans exceptionally well. Cons: The adjustable tines in the racks. I have to comment on a few things here. This unit is beautiful, extremely quiet, and best of all, cleans exceptionally well. There are many choices on the door for different situations. I live alone and wash off my plates prior to putting them in the dishwasher, so I normally only use the "Quick wash". If friends come over and we use a lot of cups (coffee) or glasses for alcohol beverages, I can us the "upper rack only" cycle which saves water, electricity, and soap. The washer is very efficient and drys without any additional heater element. Now, if they would only do away with the folding tines which don't hold the dishes in place I would be a happy camper! June 16, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by quiet and cleans one down side unlike other washers we've owned t does not have a pre rinse cycle.. Very handy when wantging to clean pots and pans without damaging the Teflon coating June 8, 2015

Answer:
Our old dishwasher had an electric element that heated the dishes after washing to dry them. We never used it. The dishes always dried by themselves. The LG has no element. The dishes dry by themselves without any additional heat. It is an electricity saving step I believe.

Answer:
Instead of a heating coil, the hot air from the water is circulated for drying. It is important not to open the dishwasher during the drying cycle, as some of the built-up heat will escape.

Answer:
HYBRID DRYING SYSTEM
This system effectively dries dishes without the use of a heating element that would increase energy consumption.

FAQ: Is a rinse aid required to be used? (E.g. alcohol or vinegar based)
Rinse aid is recommended to enhance the drying performance of the dishwasher. In order to be more energy efficient, the hybrid drying system does not utilize a heating element in order to assist in drying, so a rinse aid plays an integral role in the dry process. If a rinse aid is not used, water may remain on the dishes and the tub. Rinse aid will help to ensure that the majority of the water has been sheeted off of the dishes at the end of the rinse and that the load is ready for the dry cycle.

I had the same question/issue, contact customer service and they can give you the name of the contractor they use for repairs. The toeplate in white is considered a custom order and they fabricate it for you so no return. It wasnt cost justified to me so I let it go, unfortunately I do not remember the name of the company used nor the price.

air gap

Is the air gap necessary with the LDS5040ww model? Is there a way to either remove the hose altogether or keep it under the sink as I need the hole on my sink.

I have heard that some dishwashers have very long wash cycles, up to 1 hour long or more. Where this might save water is does waste electricty.

Answer:
It is based on settings. If you choose light load vs potscrubber. Top rack only, sanitize, extra rinse, etc... That is one very appealing aspect, you can control, for the most part, the cycle length and water efficiency of the wash.

What does error alert FE stand for?

We get an alert of FE at least 2-3 times per month ever since we got the unit. Once we start the cycle over again, it usually makes it through without another error. Would like to know what this means and how to avoid it in the future.

Answer:
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this dishwasher. The FE Error Code indicates an excessive amount of water has been supplied. In such a situation, the unit will likely require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....
