What People Are Saying

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wet dishes We bought this dishwasher, along with other appliances, about 6 months ago. Our biggest complaint is that all the dishes come out soaked. Even when we choose the extra dry time setting, they still come out very wet. You will need to towel dry your dishes before you put them away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Quiet!!! I really like how quiet this dishwasher is! Also, the ability to change the position of the racks & tines to fit larger items in it is very helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Quiet I've had my new dishwasher for about month. We live in a house with an 'open concept' meaning our living room is separated from the kitchen by a half wall. Noise from the kitchen interferes with what we are doing in the living room. We can run this dishwasher any time of day and still carry on in the living room. Aside from doing a great job cleaning our dishes we are most pleased by how quiet it is. It certainly has been a welcome addition to our family!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super clean dishes! I love LG products, but this dishwasher takes the cake! It's easy to load, with adjustable pegs and racks. Even the kids can do it and the dishes come clean! It's ridiculously quiet as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Quiet, but... The exterior and interior are all stainless and appear to be well made. The racks seem a but flimsy. I like the ability to fold down the tines, but the overall appearance inside seems to be like the toys my children play with, cheap plastic. I hope they hold up. The other issue I have is that it washes with cold water and detergent unless you select the Power Scrub cycle. It would also be nice if it remembered the settings from the last time I washed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Changing to a do not buy This machine does not dry dishes and I am thinking the reason is a lack of a frying element. I am now going to try the 2.25 hour extra dry cycle. That is a quarter of a work day to do what my 40 year old Kitchen Aid did in less than an hour. That Kitchen Aid was working well but my wife wanted a stainless steel washer. Plus the racks do not hold as many different sized dishes as did my old Kitchen Aid. I gave this a previous review of more stars but after doing several loads I am going to hit LG hard with a lower rating. The movable tines are the only thing that keeps me from giving a one star rating.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from High expectations fell flat I always hate leaving negative reviews, so I'll start with the positive. The dishwasher looks great, and it's very quiet. I love the Easyrack Plus system for easily cleaning large items. Now on to the bad. When I spent this amount of money, I expected a much better product. Even under the extra dry setting, the dishes are always still wet, and I have to dry them before storing them in my cabinets. The buttons are a poor design. I have accidentally turned it off mid-cycle several times because the way the buttons are located. Even with the lock, the power button doesn't lock, so it's very easy to hit it and turn it off, and you can't start off where you left off. Also, it doesn't tell you if the dishes are clean, so if you don't unload them immediately and forget, as I tend to do sometimes, or if someone else comes along, there's no way to know if they are clean or dirty. Most times they are dirty, even after running a cycle. I clean my dishes pretty well before I load them, but even still this does not clean well at all. I can't tell you how many times I've had to rewash dishes after running them through this dishwasher. Very very disappointed in this brand new and very expensive dishwasher. My older cheaper one did a much better job.

Im using delicate cycle.....how can i be sure it doesnt use heat dry? Where i can control the heat dry?

Asked by: Joanne34744
We appreciate your interest in this dishwasher and its features. The DELICATE cycle is intended for effectively cleaning delicate items such as fine china and stemware. According to the CYCLE SELECTION CHART on page 9 of the owner’s manual, it appears that the DELICATE cycle will utilize a HEATED RINSE cycle, running at about 154 degrees Fahrenheit.

How do I clean filter on LDS550ST dishwasher?

This this washer does not look the same as other LG dishwasher videos on cleaning the filter. How do I clean the filter or is there one to clean?
Asked by: nona48
I've an LG tech here looking at this dishwasher. The sump motor broke. He asserts this unit does not have a food grinder, and that it's a copy-and-paste mistake. This unit does not have a filter and lets food pass through. He also asserts that if this unit breaks down again as result of the what he thinks is non-existent food grinder not working, it will not be covered under warranty. How do I educate him on this and ensure I don't get charged if the food grinder malfunctions in the future. Or do I have to return the 2-month old dishwasher and get another one.

does this model have a filter that needs to be cleaned?

Asked by: RegT
The LG Semi-Integrated Dishwasher with Flexible EasyRack™ Plus System, Model # LDS5540WW does have a filter, but it has a built-in soft food grinder and a self-cleaning filter. The grinder grinds up soft food and residue into small particles that can be caught in the filter and washed down the drain. The self-cleaning filter system continuously cleans the wash water as it circulates to separate any residue from the wash water. All dirt and residue easily wash down the drain...^IFV

Why does it leak from the right side of the front door

My dishwasher leaks during the cycle, especially when the bottom rack is spinning. Does anyone know why?
Asked by: BRaid
We regret to read that you're having issues with your LG Semi-Integrated Dishwasher with Flexible EasyRack™ Plus System, Model # LDS5540ST leaking from the right side of the front door. Hopefully this is one of those problems that you can easily fix from home. Usually a leak in the front door may be because the door latch is bent or loose, or not latching properly. If it is loose, tightening it would resolve the issue. If it is bent, you can easily order and install a new latch. Another cause maybe that the gasket is broken or damaged and needs to be replaced. The gasket is the rubber sealing on the door that prevents water from flowing out of your dishwasher. If your gasket is damaged, this can be replaced with relative ease. Before doing anything on the dishwasher, be sure to unplug it first and you can soak your new gasket in warm soapy water to make it pliable and easier to install. Check your door hinges and if those are loose door, go ahead and tighten them while you're working on the door. You may also want to make sure that the dishwasher is leveled as that can also lead to leaks. Place a level measure to verify that the unit is level and if not, you can use shims to level it. If none of these apply, you may need to schedule a repair service...^IFV

Does model LDS5540BB have a hard food disposer?

Asked by: Zayra
IT HAS A SOFT FOOD GRINDER. This is the text from the manual (you can download it in pdf format). "For best wash results, your LG dishwasher has a built-in soft food grinder and a selfcleaning filter. The grinder grinds up soft food and residue into small particles that can be caught in the filter and washed down the drain. The selfcleaning filter system continuously cleans the wash water as it circulates to separate any residue from the wash water. All dirt and residue easily washes down the drain."
