Hello and thank you for contacting us. I am sorry to hear that your dryer is not heating and I would be happy to assist in troubleshooting the issue.

First, you would want to make sure that your ducting [venting] does not exceed 16 feet; now, the way you determine if it does is that in addition to the stated length of the vent, you would need to add 10 feet for ever elbow [turn] in the ducting. If the vent is too long, the unit will not function as specified.

You would also want to check for any clogs in the ducting or filter of the unit.

Another troubleshooting would be with your sensor and dryer sheets. We do not recommend dryer sheets as they could coat the sensor cause drying to be less efficient.

If this does not help, you may need service. You can obtain service assistance by calling our Customer Service at 800-243-0000.

Does that mean it's clogged or just it's way of starting up the machine?
I just had the vent cleaned and some of my stuff isn't drying as quickly again. Not sure if it's the vent needing to be cleaned again or something else.

Answer:
Always make sure the lint filter is clean before starting a new load; a clogged lint filter will increase drying times. To clean, pull the lint filter straight up and roll any lint off the filter with your fingers. Do not rinse or wash the filter to remove lint. Push the lint filter firmly back into place. See “Care and Cleaning” for more information. Always ensure the lint filter is properly installed before running the dryer. Running the dryer with a loose or missing lint filter may damage the dryer and articles in the dryer. The CHECK FILTER REMINDER will show CHECK FILTER when the dryer is turned on as a reminder to check the filter. It turns off when the start /pause button is pressed.

It is not recommended to use dryer sheets (fabric softener sheets) in LG dryers. This is because the chemicals in the sheets can collect on the humidity sensors inside the drum, preventing proper humidity sensing. This can cause the unit to shut off before load is dry. They can also block air flow and cover the sensors.

Answer:
The air filter on this unit is located just inside the door, right at the bottom of the opening. The filter on a dryer does not require replacement, unless it is torn or damaged in some way. To clean, open the dryer door and pull the lint filter straight up. Roll any lint off the filter with your fingers or vacuum the lint filter, or wash the filter in warm, soapy water and allow to dry thoroughly before reinstalling. Never operate the dryer without the lint filter in place.
