Get It All Done in Less Time

Ultra-large capacity (7.4 cu.ft.) means you have the room to do more laundry in fewer loads.

Get It Dry the First Time

Our Sensor Dry system measures the moisture levels during the cycle and automatically adjusts the drying time to help ensure you get dry laundry every time.

Keep Clothes
Wrinkle Free

Always forgetting to remove your laundry? No problem. Choosing the Wrinkle Care option periodically tumbles your laundry to keep clothes wrinkle free.

Why Wait?

Sometimes, you just don't have time to wait for a standard dry cycle. LG's Speed Dry Cycle is perfect for small loads and can have clothes dry in just 25 minutes.

Troubleshoot Easy as 1-2-3

If you ever experience an issue with your LG dryer, you don't have to worry. The SmartDiagnosis™ feature helps the service center diagnose problems over the phone, or with a simple app on your smart phone, helping you minimize costly, inconvenient service calls.

What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product. We have had this dryer about a month now and very impressed with it. It is very quiet, has great features and dries our clothes faster than our other dryer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet and does the job! Bought this a few months ago. Love this dryer. Works quietly and takes less time to dry than our previous one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent performance, reliable I had an LG set that I left in my last house when I sold it. After several months in my new house, I bought LG’s to replace a newer set from the previous owner. It just wasn’t as good as my old LG’s even though they were 8 years old, they still ran like new. This dryer has a nice selection of settings that allow you to dry all different types of loads perfectly. I like to just get the heavy wet out of my delicates before air drying, It dries my big bulky bathroom mats evenly, never over dries my clothes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Put my tech savvy husband in charge of buying a new dryer and told him to get something simple and this is what he brings home. I had to ask my 15 year old and 10 year old grandsons how to operate it. But it's easier than it looked at first. And I love the extra settings and options!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The NFC Tag on Feature does work well I bought this because I am a bit of a technophile. I love new tech and I wanted the NFC Tag On feature. However, this feature does not work well at all. It took 30 minutes of moving my phone around the NFC sensor to get it to connect. This make it essentially useless. Don't bother buying this model.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gets the job done. I bought this dryer because it was on sale at the local box store, I have an LG washer that works fine, and LG in general and this dryer in particular rated high in a certain consumers' rating guide. Because there are so many setting options it's taking awhile to figure out just which ones to use so that when the signal chimes, my clothes are actually dry. I'm sure I'll get to the point where I use pretty much the same three settings for everything. It would be nice if the finish signal wasn't the same as or so close to the washer finish signal! And when I toss clothes from the washer into the dryer, and again when I pull a handful of laundry out of the dryer, little things - socks, underwear, the dishcloths that are used on the kitchen counter and for washing dishes - fall to the floor that hasn't been mopped in a disgracefully long time. I've been using a basin to catch most of the falling laundry (because the average laundry basket is too tall to sit under the open dryer door), but that basin gets used for many household tasks and might only look more sanitary than the floor. So, it's a dryer, it dries clothes, and that's what I bought it for, hence 4 stars. I could do without the superfluous settings, it would be nice if I didn't hear the finish signal and stop what I'm doing to go pull out the dry clothes only to find that what I heard was actually the washer, and I sure do miss having a dryer door that opens downward to act as a platform for falling clothes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good electric dryer Just over a month ago, we purchased this electric dryer from LG model 3170w. So far, we are well pleased with the purchase. Economical in terms of electrical and fast drying time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Brand We previously had a front load large capacity dryer by LG and it lasted 9 years so naturally we bought another one. To be honest our last dryer actually would have lasted longer had our apartment complex taken care of the duct work to vent the dryer but we found out that it had never been cleaned. After cleaning the duct work our new dryer works great and fast. I believe we would still be using our old dryer had we would have known that they had never cleaned the dryer duct work.

Can I use this dryer(30amps) on a 50amps receptacle and breaker?

Asked by: Jeremi
Hi Jeremi. The ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 7.4 cu. ft. Ultra Large Capacity Dryer w/ NFC Tag On Technology, Model # DLE3170W has its own terminal block that must be connected to a separate 240 VAC, 60-Hertz, single-phase circuit fused at 30 amperes. Depending on your local codes and regulations, or in their absence, the latest edition of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, you can use either a UL-Listed 30 A, 240 V, 4-wire or 3-wire #10 AWG-minimum copper conductor power cord through a strain relief. There are two issues that you will encounter with attempting to use this in a 50 Amp receptacle. The first issue is that the 4-wire and 3-wire receptacles do not have the same NEMA Configuration and neither does the 50 Amp receptacle so the plugs on the power cords will not fit into a 50 Amp receptacle. The second is that plugging a 30 amp unit into a 50 amp circuit creates a potential fire hazard because the the dryer could overload and a 50 amp breaker won't allow for it to trip properly. With that said, ALWAYS maintain 30 amps throughout the circuit, including your receptacle/plug, wire and breaker...^IFV

is there a diagram showing the location of the vent outlet on the dryer with dimensions?

Asked by: Willmort
Regrettably, the only diagrams that show the Exhaust Duct Outlet for the ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 7.4 cu. ft. Ultra Large Capacity Dryer w/ NFC Tag On Technology, Model # DLE3150W is the diagram on page 9 of its owner's manual, but it does not show any dimensions. The diagram on page on page 12 (no dimensions), and the diagram on page 18 that shows how to remove the rear exhaust duct retaining screw to install the side vent kit. You can also get a better view of the exhaust duct outlet by using the navigation arrow on the left of the unit's main image on its product information page to scroll to the second image from the main image that shows the rear of the unit while it is sitting on a pedestal. Regrettably, none of these have dimensions, but it may help to know that you can only use 4-inch (10.2 cm) rigid or flexible metal ductwork inside the dryer cabinet for venting outside and that the exhaust duct must also be 4-inch (10.2 cm) rigid or flexible metal ductwork...^IFV

What are the maximum temperatures for the different heat settings? In other words, how hot does the dryer get when it's set on high, medium and low? Neither the spec sheet nor the manual list the temperatures for the various het settings.

Asked by: jcs124
The temperature inside the ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 7.4 cu. ft. Ultra Large Capacity Dryer w/ NFC Tag On Technology, Model # DLE3170W will range from about 125°F to approximately 135°F. Low heat will average around the 120-125°F range, while medium heat will average in the 130-140°F range and high heat approximately 140-155°F. However, the size of the load being dried, the amount of moisture in your clothing and the evaporation of water from your clothing can affect the temperature or reduce the internal temperature. Lint accumulation can block the flow of air which in turn can affect the temperature. As a reference, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission states that an adult can suffer third-degree burns after five minutes if his skin is exposed to hot tap water at 120°F. For safety reasons, in most current dryers, the internal temperature has been reduced to a range of 125°F to 135°F across the cycles to make sure that the dryer cannot cause harm as you are interrupting a cycle or unloading clothes after drying is complete...^IFV

My house is 110 v, and how is this 24v product?...

Asked by: zest00
You may want to contact an electrician for a more detailed explanation on this, but most US/North American homes have split phase where the power coming into the home is 240V with a center tap which gives 120 V from the center tap (called Neutral) to either leg of the 240V. The two legs are out of phase by 180 when referenced to neutral. When the two legs are utilized, between them they develop the full 240V that came into the house. That’s how higher power appliances like the ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 7.4 cu. ft. Ultra Large Capacity Dryer w/ NFC Tag On Technology, Model # DLE3170W, Electric Range Ovens, and Electric Dryers work...^IFV

Ultra Large Capacity Dryer w/ NFC Tag On Technology, Model # DLEX3170W has its own terminal block that must be connected to a separate 240 VAC, 60 Hertz, single-phase circuit fused at 30 amperes.
