FlowSense is a feature on some LG model dryers which uses existing components in dryers to supply information to the control that allows it to calculate the amount of restriction in the drying system.
FlowSense™ does not use any special or additional sensors and its function or operation has no effect on the dryers ability to dry clothes.
The information supplied to the control allows it to distinguish between a restricted exhaust duct and a restricted lint filter.
This system also includes a quick check that can be performed at installation or any time the customer wants to check on the condition of the exhaust system. This quick check only takes 2 minutes and is designed to alert the installer/customer to serious exhaust system problems immediately.
The regular function of FlowSense™ takes 2 to 3 full cycles for an accurate reading. This means that any maintenance done to the exhaust system will not be reflected in the FlowSense™ indicator immediately.
If the ducting system has been shortened, cleaned, and free of any kinks, the next step would be to check the venting from the hose to the outside area. On occasion, the end of the duct has been blocked by a lint buildup or even a bird's nest! The complete ducting system needs to be maintained and free of any obstructions.
