Answer:
32" is the absolute minimum cabinet depth. Anything less will give you fits with the vent. The dryer exhaust is very low in the center of the back, and I used a 4" flexible metal dryer duct to hook it up. You need at least 6" from the back of the dryer to the wall to make the connections and allow for the bend. Actually, what works the easiest is to connect the flexible duct to the dryer outlet first, then bend the duct around to the exhaust outlet and make the final connection. Then slide the dryer back gently into place (the flexible hose can be "squashed" a bit as long at the connections don't get kinked). If you're enclosing the dryer, you need access to one side of it once you get it in place to make final adjustments to the hookup. Also, check the installation instructions (which I threw out) for minimum clearances for ventilation. I think you can download the instructions from LG's website's support section. Good luck!

DLG4871W gas dryer - Bottom Vent? Location? Kit?

Need info ASAP, install is Tuesday 6/25/13.

DLG4871W gas dryer

1. Does it support a Bottom Vent?

2. What is the SPECIFIC location? We need inches from front, back, side & size of hole. We already have a hole in to floor for our current dryer.

3. Does it require a kit?

Thanks!

Answer:
We appreciate your interest in this gas dryer. Yes, it does support a downward vent. An adapter kit, part number 383EEL9001B, may be purchased from your local LG Appliance retailer. This kit contains the necessary duct components to change the dryer vent location. Press the adapter duct onto the blower housing and secure it to the base of the dryer. Insert the 4” elbow through the rear opening and press it onto the adapter duct. Be sure that the male end of the elbow faces down through the hole in n the bottom of the dryer. Secure it in place with duct tape. Finally, attach the cover plate to the back of the dryer with the provided screw. Diagrams can be shown on page 16 of the owner’s manual.

Is it a safety issue? Please explain why I cannot use dryer sheets in this dryer? I did not know this before I ordered it today, and I have never heard of such in thing.

Answer:
New dryers come with new technology, for example: sensors that help prevent over heating or drying clothes for too long. Dryer sheets may harm those sensors/prevent them from functioning correctly. That is why it is not recommended to use dryer sheets in your new high efficient dryer. Instead you could use liquid fabric softener when washing your laundry.

I called the 800 243-0000 number for repair. According to the Customer Information Center Representative, Lorraine, it is normal for the Cooling icon to remain on during the drying cycle while the Drying icon blinks continuously. Staff person NeilE, are you sure of your answer? What should I do now?

Answer:
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this gas dryer. If the cooling indicator stays on constantly, then it would seem the unit is not operating properly. This unit will likely require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....
