What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great dryer I bought this a few months ago and have never been happier! The dryer has clear notifications if there is an issue, which is incredibly helpful. Love my LG.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Had this dryer for a month. Going from my old dryer to this one is taking some getting use to. Technology has come a long way. Give it time read, read, read the directions for use and you will love this product as much as I do.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works fine (but simpler controls would be nice) I purchased this dryer a month ago and am generally happy with the performance. However, I am not a great fan of the pre-programmed options. Pros: Easy to use "Low" settings really do achieve low temperatures Attractive... a bit retro inspired Quiet Con: The controls are oddly "over-engineered". I love technology, but not when it gets in my way. I would much prefer if there were three dials (desired dryness; temp setting; time) and I could choose whatever combination works for me. As it is, the system has preset options that were surely intended to be helpful, but are more of an obstacle. E.g. 1. when using the dryness sensor, you are locked into limited temperature selections - med-high and ultra-low are not an option at all. 2. When you select air-dry (i.e. no heat), it automatically chooses 30 min; if you want to change the duration of air-dry, do not use the "time dry" button as it will automatically change the temp to high. Not good if you were planning to air-dry your delicates! Bottom line: the dryer works fine. I have learnt to work around the controls. But at least this customer would like to keep simple things simple.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Quality Dryer! I have had this gas dryer for about 2 months and it is excellent. Can handle large loads. I generally use the sensor drying settings and each time the clothing is perfectly dried. The dryer is quiet as well. I got rid of a 22 year old Whirlpool gas dryer and that thing was noisy. This LG dryer is a pleasure to use and I would recommend it to anyone that asks! Thank you LG once again for a quality product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Such a pleasure Dryer is terrific. Dries clothes without roasting them and so quickly. Much more efficient than the one it replaced. I would but it and the matching washer again in a minute. Highly recommend this pair. It's rated so high for a good reason. You will not be disappointed.

Your website under tech specs states the part number for the LP conversion is 4948EL4002B.The owners manual states 383EEL3002D.Which is correct?

Asked by: Wrenz71
Hi, We believe you might have misread the owner's manual for the LG 7.3 cu. ft. Ultra Large High Efficiency Dryer w/ Sensor Dry Technology, Model # DLG4971W. Part # 383EEL9001B is the part number for the adapter kit that contains the necessary duct components to change the location of the dryer vent and Part # 4948EL4002B is indeed the part number for the LP Conversion Kit. Both listings in the specifications and in the manual are correct as is. Here's an excerpt from page 16 of the owner's manual: "Installing the Side Vent Kit An adapter kit, part number 383EEL9001B, may be purchased from your LG retailer. This kit contains the necessary duct components to change the dryer vent location."...^IFV

Convert to propane - Are there any adjustments after the correct oriface is installed. Also, If I ever needed to replace the drum, how would I do it?

In the future, it would be good yo have instructions specific to the DLG4971 on how to 'open it up' for trouble shooting. The instructions that came from LG with the orifice cover many machines and are not even what LG recommends on how to change the orifice. I want to know how to get the top and front off so that I can get to parts that may have to be checked if the dryer malfunctions. Your instructions mention adjusting regulator. Is that done on the DLG4971 and how?
Asked by: Jake67
We appreciate your interest in this gas dryer. Unfortunately it will not be possible to provide such information, as we are not technicians. It is recommended to have a licensed gas installer install the LP Orifice, using the instructions provided with the orifice. The replacement of the drum is also a task recommended to be performed by a service technician. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at

DLG4971W - How does Wrinkle Care work?

Every time I activate wrinkle care feature, the dryer doesn't end its cycle - the button blinks and the music advising the end doesn't play... is that normal? Must I manually turn it off if I choose wrinkle care feature?
Asked by: Vivian
We appreciate your interest in this washing machine. That which has been described is normal operation. When the WRINKLE CARE feature has been activated, the cycle does not actually end at the originally designated time. The load will continue to tumble, periodically, for up to 3 hours after the selected cycle is complete, or until the door is opened; whichever is the shorter of the events.

How high off the floor is the DLG4971W (floor to center bottom of the front edge) and where are the legs versus the side of this unit?

Re: the legs --- is the edge of each leg 3/4" or more from the sides of the unit? I am trying to understand if I need to remove a floor base molding to facilitate installation. Thanks in advance for your answers!
Asked by: Jones
We appreciate your interest in this dryer and its features. It appears that the feet are around an inch away from the edges of the cabinet. These specifications are subject to change without prior notification.

How does Rack Dry Function work on DLG4971W?

When I select this function, the dryer's drum still rotates! I thought this function was not supposed to tumble.
Asked by: Docooley
We appreciate your interest in this dryer and its features. The tub will continue to tumble when it is in the RACK DRY mode. It has not choice, due to being belt-driven with the motor. However, items to be dried should be placed on the rack, with no items tumbling.

Will it work with AC cord 3 or 4 prong and is the LP conversion kit included?

Asked by: Dan1234
We appreciate your interest in this gas dryer. Gas dryers use a standard 3-prong, 120V power cord. The interchangeable 3-prong and 4-prong power cords are for electric dryers only. According to page 20 of the owner’s manual, in the installation instructions, it states that the LP Conversion orifice, part number 383EEL3002D, will have to be ordered. It should then be installed by a qualified gas technician, and the change should be noted on the dryer itself.

My old gas dryer uses a 3/8" valve (?): do I need to change it for a new LG DLE4971W?

Asked by: JasperJ
We appreciate your interest in this gas dryer. According to the information on page 20 of the owner’s manual, this dryer has a 3/8” NPT Gas connection for its gas supply line. It is recommended to connect the dryer to your laundry room’s gas supply line using a new, flexible stainless steel connector with a 3/8 inch NPT fitting.
