Answer:
We regret the difficulty you have experienced with this Home Theater System. It is recommended to check the firmware version on the system, and update it if needed. The latest update versions are listed on our website at http://www.lg.com/us/support-produc.... If the unit continues to have problems with standard DVDs, then the unit may be having a problem with the disc reader, which may require service. Please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 to make proper service arrangements.

5.1 surround from all 5 speakers HD cable TV?

Hi was curious how I can get all 5 speaks to work with my HD cable TV? All 5 work on toslink for DVDS but not cable, at first I thought they did but now only comes of 3 front speakers. I am using an HDMI and TOSLINK cable. Also the wires are long and makered with specific colors, can I cut them down and still work fine and do the colors actually matter or would they all work on any connection? they all look the same. My HD cable says 5.1 but I don't hear any sound from the rear speakers except with DVDS. Thanks.

Answer:
Try to switch your speaker wires from BACK to FRONT. If the audio moves to the back speakers, then the unit is operating properly. If this is an LG television, it may be that the TV is trying to send a DTS signal over the OPTICAL audio port, which is not compatible with the TV Audio Output. Check you see if your HD Cable can convert the signal to Dolby Digital, instead. This should resolve the matter for you.

Answer:
Try rearranging the speaker wires, in order to test the working back speakers on the non-working front speaker channels. If it is the speakers, then the back speakers will continue to operate on the front channels. If it is the system, needing service, then these rear speakers will quit working when moved to the front channels. It is recommended to contact our Customer Interactive Center for additional troubleshooting and for setting up factory service on this device, should it be necessary. They can be reached at 800-243-0000.
