What People Are Saying

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great projector, but have had mixed results I really do like the projector itself. The fan is quiet, and the picture is great. I have had a few issues though. The magic remote stopped working the first week. The app store has some of the top apps absent for this device. Example: Hulu Plus, Crackle are not compatible. Many other apps also say "Sorry, this app is not compatible with your device." This is even after firmware updates. Tech support was not much help with the apps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Began as a search for a 55 inch flat screen. I will never buy a tv again. I was searching for a decent 55" flat screen LCD that would fit my budget. I saw the PA77U in Best Buy. I found a chair and researched it. I bought it. Wow. Exceeded expectations, is the easiest way to convey what I am experiencing. My first projector, and a hit. There are many technical reviews of this unit, so I will keep it simple. Huge, great, quiet, tons of features, simple, fun, tons of adjustments, 3D, portable, clear, interactive, BRIGHT,, 100 inch screen at 11.5 feet from source. Don't think of the PA77U beginner or cheap because of the price. If LG purposely set out to introduce the projector to the average consumer, with a great package at a good price, mission accomplished. Did I mention that I will NEVER but a television again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely worth the $ Easy to set up right out of the box. Great picture quality and connects to the cable (directv), computer, and ps4 just to name a few. Small and portable so it fits just about anywhere and has the ability to be a good sized family TV or a huge 100" screen to view movies/tv on in a living room or "man cave" type setting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I was pleasantly wowed/surprised and hooked l looked at several products before buying, and found a store with a really nice display setup. The bulb type projector was in the 2k-3k range, projecting from a ceiling mount onto a 120 inch auto screen, and looked really bad. I had no demo for the LG LED type, but for the price, it could not be much worse. The LG LED projector offers 30k hours bulb life compared to 5k [expensive replacement bulb] for the other one. I found the setup easy, and projected onto a lime green wall. l was totally blown away, the size, picture quality was amazing, even in daylight. I have 3D content from my cable box, bought DLP ready glasses and wow 3D on 100 inch picture. I also enjoy surfing the web big screen, while watching picture in picture tv, no more squinting. The smart tv is great, and smart remote beats all virtual typing. I also took it on vacation, connected to the RF and enjoyed, even non HD tv looked good. There are apps, netflix, amazon, so the rainy vacation days were better. I don't know what took me so long and I am totally hooked.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feature packed. Very good package Good:- -Looks great in all white -Projects great quality videos. Don't shy away with 720p native resolution. It's really good enough and your eyes can hardly make out any difference between 1080, unless you are a professional or watch it from too short distance - Magic remote is great. Works by moving your hand. - Takes all sorts of inputs, hooked up pen drive with variety of video formats, including 3D. hooked up laptop over HDMI, Chromecast, in-built smart TV. OMG, so many possibilities and convenience. - Bright enough even in max. power saving mode. Can handle some amount of ambient light with min. power saving mode. But after all, it's a projector and can't give same results in daylight as a regular TV. But in dark setting, it can definitely beat/compare the TV. - 3D works great. I have tried variety of 3D formats with my DLP glasses and all worked great!! - So many goodies like external antenna, cute projector bag - Does it have any fan even? so silent... - Gets a little warm but not hot like bulb projectors - Easy on pocket as it's LED hence no headache of replacing bulbs and save energy being less power hungry Bad:- - Smart TV is good but not great. Apps hangs sometimes. I am good with my Chromecast - Audio is not loud enough. Its got audio out, optical out. So you have options - Wireless audio over bluetooth is there but only for specific models of LG soundbars/headphones. Wish LG had kept it open. Nonetheless, I can try Bluetooth transmitters. - Only single HDMI/USB Overall, happy with purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All in one portable TV Before buying these projector, I considered almost all LED projects available in the market and LG PA77U was the best value for price considering all the features it has including LG Smart TV and built in TV tuner capability. For me, I am using it instead of TV and it does a good job at it. Since it is only 700 lumen, don't expect it to be bright during the afternoon when windows are open but it performs exceptional under normal dark envirnment (i.e. after sunset and windows open or with small lights on). Colors are really saturated and brilliant compared to other projectors i have seen. Only thing that bothers me is it doesn't have Bluetooth connectivity for connecting speaker or sound bar other than LG's sound bar with Sound SYNC and that is why it took me a month to buy these projector otherwise I would have bought it earlier but it is NOT a show stopper, everything else in these projector makes up for it but I would love to see LG projector with Bluetooth connectivity for external speaker/sound bar. It is not difficult to use at all but it does take some time for 'LOADING'. Its web browser is kind of slow, also other apps such as youtube and amazon prime also takes some time to load but keep in mind that these is not an i7/16gb/SSD computer. Also, my projector is little doesn't produce complete horizontal image it is slightly inclined (may be 5 degree) but a small folded piece of paper underneath one of the leg solved the problem. it has 2x3W speaker and one can't expect much from it. So consider buying sound bar/external speaker if you are a music lover with all those bass and loud music. overall, if anybody is looking for an LED projector to replace a TV and somebody who watches TV just in the evening, these is the way to go.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Laptop not reading after a firmware update. After the firmware update, the laptop is not detected via HDMI cable. NO VGA cable port too in the device. No access to laptop at all. No use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very much delighted I wanted to buy a big screen TV at 65-75" range and also wanted to take the TV overseas. Well, that will be too big to carry so I opted for a projector instead. After reading the excellent reviews of this model, I decided to try it myself. Wow, I was amazed. The Blue Ray movie I played was very very sharp at 75-80" diagonal. I tried the HDTV antenna and I got my 'TV' as well from such a small lightweight projector.

Type of screen color PA 77U

I bought the PA77U projector. I have it on my living room. I would like to watch both day and night. My room has windows and door but it has blinds so there is some filtered light coming and also on top arch of door and from other rooms. Nothing directly on to the area. Currently I am projecting on to wall which has patterns. I am planning on getting a DIY screen material. I would like to know what type of screen material you would recommend, either white/gray/black and the gain for best use of the projector. Thank you

I read and youtubed about screens and paints and materials.  This is what worked for me.  First I tried the Homedepot Behr "Silver Screen" paint.  It was ok.  From simplest to hardest, I then found the Sherwin  Williams brand that I don't recall the name of, but easy enough to find on the internet.  That did the trick.  At first, I set out to DIY a screen.  After finding the right paint on a smooth wall, I don't literally see the need to build one.

I apologize, but no; in reviewing the available options of this projector, there is the option for wired headphones, but not for a Bluetooth connection.

Make projection image smaller without moving projector - ZOOM

Most projectors that I've worked with have a zoom function so I can decrease the size of the projected image without having to physically move the projector. I can't find that on this projector and I'm afraid you don't have one based on the research I've done. Do you have a zoom function like this? Or anything I can do to affect the projection image size WITHOUT physically moving the projector?
Asked by: pmasseycpa
Press the SMART button on the remote control. Locate the SETTINGS menu, and then find the PICTURE tab. From this point, locate the ASPECT RATIO settings. This should provide access to the ZOOM and CINEMA ZOOM 1 options. This information can be viewed on page 36 of your owner’s manual.

Is Brightness just enough?

At 700 lumens is the projector brightness for PA77U just adequate for sharp and good output? At this price, top notch competitors provide twice or four times the brightness.
Asked by: Sumod
1st thing, it's LED light source. Secondly, color brightness also matters along with white brightness. Colors on this one are really vibrant and rich. Although other bulb based projectors come with 2000-3000+ ANSI Lumens of brightness, their actual brightness is always much lower than claimed. Whatever is the case, 700 lumens is more than bright for theater type dark setting. I have to keep it on Max power saving mode. In a day time also, it's pretty good if you can control the light with blinds. I have tried up-to 100 inches and did not have any issues. Remember, the bigger the picture the lesser the brightness.

How can I adjust the picture size so i can keep the projector where it is and make the screen fit the wall

Asked by: Bobbie1598
We appreciate your interest in this projector. The available size of the projection will depend greatly upon the size of the screen/wall area, and the distance of the projector from the screen/wall. When the projector is placed 120.5” from the screen/wall, then the image should be set correctly as a 100” picture. This information is listed on page 20 of the owner’s manual.
