What People Are Saying

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beautiful monitor, but may interfere with my WiFi. I've been using this display since December. It looks great and is a greta compliment to my new MacBook Pro. However, I've read how the 5K display interfered with WiFi, and I believe this one does as well. When I positioned it above and behind the my MBP, my WiFi signal was terrible. When I moved it to the side, it was better, yet very slow. When I removed it from the room, WiFi was back to normal.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice Display, but buggy I bought this display when first released to go with my new MacBook Pro. It is very easy to connect, relatively affordable (at least at the discounted price), and the display quality is good. One big problem, though, is that it does not always wake up when I wake up my Mac. I sometimes have to unplug and reconnect the USB-C cable to get it to wake up. This happens less often now that I have moved my wireless hub further away from my computer (it was adjacent to it - now about 8 feet away), but it still happens. I suspect that this monitor has a similar shielding problem to that found on the 27" display. I'm surprised I have not heard about this.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Disappointing In short, will not work with anything other than a new MacBook with the USB-C cable. If you have an older MacBook with the HDMI or thunderbolt ports, don't waste your money.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Has intermittent issues with turning on I purchased this monitor around a month ago from the Apple Online Store. When plugging it in to my new MacBook Pro 13, it will work beautifully. BUT, once the screen goes to sleep, the monitor will not turn back on. When LG releases an update for this issue, the monitor will be a 5 star monitor. For now, 2 stars since I can only get it to work 40% of the time. I would not recommend until a fix is presented.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from color uniformity is bad I bought one of these at the apple store in The Hague. The color uniformity was atrocious. The left side of the screen had a reddish tint to it, and the right side looked more greenish. This was especially obvious on white screen content such as an empty safari window. I returned the device the next day and was given a choice of refund or to try another one. I opted to try another one. This one turned out to have the same problem, only slightly less. Returned it and took the refund.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beats the 27" hands down! Not being able to make up my mind I have purchased BOTH the 21 and 27 LG displays for my new MBP (knowing I can return the one I decide against). The 21" fired right up..very fast. excellent color...highly responsive. Seems to work just like its advertised! I then tried the 27" - faster thunderbolt, internal camera.. Big mistake. It flickers, the MBP can't seem to find it, secondary tasks seem to take a long time. Very disappointed in its performance. Seems the video requirements of the 27" might be pushing the MBP to extremes. Initially I thought out of the box I'd be keeping the 27". Not so. I'm returning the 27" because of these issues. I wish the 21" had the internal camera for obvious reasons, but the 21" is a hands down winner for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great display for the 2016 15" MacBook Pro! I ordered this display through the Apple Store on December 5th and received it December 7th. I was surprised that I could not find a "On" button and there were almost no text instructions on setup, just some cryptic pictures. Therefore, I figured that must mean that it is so easy that no explanations were needed. I plugged in the power cord and then the usb-c cable to the 2016 15" MacBook Pro and into one of the usb-c slots on the back of the monitor, No response on the monitor all, just a black screen... I panicked a bit and sent a message to LG's support site. But before they could respond, I discovered that only one of the usb-c slots on the back of the monitor can be used to connect to the computer; it is the one with the mysterious ellipse marking around it. So, once I plugged it into the correct slot, the display activated in all of its glory! Yes, this is a beautiful display. I have used it daily and have absolutely no bad things to say about it. Except that I need still more screen real estate. So, I think I'm going to buy it's bigger brother, the 27" 5K display, also!

How do I connect speakers to this monitor?

Asked by: Bobec
We appreciate your interest in this monitor and its operations. This set does not have a speaker port, nor can it connect to any manner of speakers. Such should be connected directly to the computer instead.

Can this monitor support charging the 2016 MacBook Pro 15"??

Asked by: Ani95
I don't think so. This supports charging up to 60W. You need at least 85W for the 15".  This monitor would charge the MacBook and the 13" MBP.  If you want to charge the 15" you would need to buy the 5k monitor.
