Re: LG 27EA33V Black 27" 5ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor, IPS-Panel 200 cd/m2.

Why is the brightness of this monitor so low? I won't buy any monitor under 300 candelas.

Answer:
I would check the settings. I actually have read many complaints about the monitor being too bright. This is the only one about it not being bright enough I have read. In both cases I suggest checking the settings. If brightness at 99% on a google screen isn't bright enough for you then either your monitor has a problem or something else other than the monitor is having a problem. If this is an issue in games, then check the game settings - especially the gamma.

Answer:
There are no built-in speakers. The audio from HDMI feeds an audio output jack. Connect the jack to headphones, computer speakers, or home theater.

Answer:
We appreciate your interest in this monitor. This 27” monitor does not have any speakers built into the system. The only connection available, that can receive an audio signal is the HDMI port. In this instance, use the HEADPHONE jack to hear the sound.

Screen intermittently blacks out during DVD movies and live TV

My new LG IPS LED 27EA33 monitor intermittently blacks out during either DVD playback or live TV however, audio remains unaffected. Movies watched from a web site or movie files (mp4, mov, avi) play without interruption.

The other monitor attached to the computer plays DVDs and live TV with no issue. I have always had two monitors attached to this computer and never had this problem. The LG is connected to the PC using a DVI to HDMI cable.

Answer:
This is typically a problem at the source (PC), however, if it works with one monitor and not this one All I can say is: Check the video card drivers and make sure they are up to date. Turn the power saving off on the monitor and the PC and test to see if it makes a difference. It sounds like during DVD playback something might think the system is idle and shut off the monitor image.

What connection offers monitor best preformance with a MacPro

I just purchased the 27ea33v monitor for my new MacPro Notebook. Please advise on best way to connect the two devices. Should I use the HDMI input on the computer or follow the in-store sales rep advise to use my VGA adapter as the sales rep indicated all connections offer the same quality and performance.

Answer:
I am a little concerned the Rep would say "all connections offer the same quality and performance". This is not the case. I would think of it as HDMI > DVI > VGA. However, while I am no longer a Mac expert, I do seem to recall newer(ish) macs have a "mini" port for monitor output and you will need an adaptor. If this is the case, hit a Mac forum and find out what that port outputs and buy the adaptor for that. If it is DVI for example, and you buy an HDMI adaptor, you won't get any more output quality. The Rep may also have been alluding to the Mac's output capabilities rendering (excuse the signature pun) the use of all of the ports basically equal. Again, a Mac forum could answer that question. Hope that helps.

Answer:
We appreciate your interest in this monitor and its operations. The “best” connection would depend upon what options are available on your computer. If the D-SUB VGA port is to be used, typically an adapter would be needed for Mac users. This will be the primary connection, unless other ports are available on the computer.
