Does this monitor support the Low Framerate Compensation? What is its "freesync" range? Thanks

Asked by: Han Wedge
It does not mention this is any spec sheet or the manual. The manual only mentions "56Hz to 61Hz" vertical sync which is either the worst Freesync range I've ever seen on a monitor or related to what vertical sync is reported PNP via Windows for example. A range though, sounds like the Freesync. I wish someone from LG would comment on that. I would not expect it to be a "good range" or to have LFC based on the lack of information.

I wonder if I can take advantage of the maximum resolution when working on spreadsheets or word documents, or would text become too small to be legible?

Asked by: Steven72
This can be an issue with some/many applications with 4K monitors. The size of the monitor is a big factor. If the resolution is the same and the size of screen increases, naturally everything gets bigger. My eyes are good but not 20/20 (age 52), and 28" 4K was not good from my experience; too small and needed to set a scaling factor in Windows (about 150%) to make it work for most things. That means that you logically loose some of that extra room to bigger displayed things. I ordered one of these hoping that it's the happy medium between humongous monitor (40+, which they also make a 43" (actually 42.5") version that may also consider) and an unreadable 27/28" monitor. As the monitors get too big, you are forced to move your head to see the corners and sides of the screen. This can cause fatigue, but it's a balancing act. If you are running windows, you can always use scaling to make most things look bigger; Windows 10, I have mixed feelings about it, allows scaling per monitor which allows this monitor to scale and other monitors to run natively. Keep in mind that scaling only works with some applications that support the scaling factor built into windows; e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint do. Also, Excel and Work, for example, have their own zoom factor that also scales the display and text within to application. That is also an option using this monitor leaving the Windows scaling alone.

Description says it will display video from 4K streaming services. Anyone know which ones? Not Vudu I assume. What about Netflix or Amazon Prime? I read Netflix now requires either an Nvidia Driver 384.76 or a 7th Gen. Koby Lake processor.

Asked by: Ximon
All that means is that the HDCP version 2.2 that the monitor supports will support the new 4K DRM between monitor and video source. The video source is your concern and that needs to be validated with the manufacturer; computer mother or graphics card or the device (Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, ...). Yes, computers may need 7th gen or higher (not released quite yet; 10/5/2107) Intel processor and supporting OS; e.g. windows 10. If the device you use as a source supports HDCP for 4K, then this monitor will support playback. If the device and media does not use DRM (e.g. home videos) or bypasses it (technically illegal if the media requires it) but still puts out a 4K image, it may not matter. Also, this only applies to DRM protected content like Amazon Videos UHD, Netflix UHD/4K, UHD disc player, ....

Is this monitor actually 10bit (8bit + A-FRC)? Sites that are selling it in Australia have it listed as 8bits (6bit+FRC).

Asked by: Danny10
You will want to verify the color depth for this monitor with your LG Support Center in Australia. Product specifications can change depending on the country that the product is marketed and sold in. The U.S. released version of the LG 32" Class 4K UHD LED Monitor (32" Diagonal), Model # 32UD59-B has a 10bit (8bit + A-FRC) color depth...^IFV
