Thunderbolt

Thunderbolt

This monitor's Thunderbolt input/output port allows you to connect up to six compatible devices, moving data between them with incredible speed. The two channels of 10-gigabits-per-second throughput in both directions are up to 20X faster than USB 2.0. Thunderbolt is an exciting innovation for both expansion and premium video display.

Note: When connecting both Thunderbolt™ ports to two separate computers, the monitor will only recognize the computer that is connected first. The second Thunderbolt™ port can be used as a daisy-chain for external storage devices or additional monitors.

Dual Link Up

Dual Link Up

The Dual Linkup feature allows two compatible portable devices--such as a computer, camera, phone, or Blu-ray player--to be connected to the monitor, and both can be viewed on the same screen simultaneously.

Screen Splitter

Multitasking doesn't have to mean shuffling back and forth between windows*. With a single click, the 4-Screen Split feature divides the screen into as many as four customizable segments, two-by-two. Now you can see four different windows at the same time.

Disclaimer: *Screen Split software runs on Windows Vista/7/8 and Mac OS.

What People Are Saying

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 33 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Once you live with it, you can't live without it The quality of this monitor is outstanding. For a working designer constantly immersed in two to five Creative Cloud apps at a time, the flexibility of a single ultrawide monitor is perfect. This replaced a dual display setup that I've used for years and thought I'd never change, but where two monitors provide plenty of screen real estate, it's FIXED real estate. Not only do I have a lot more desk space now (real and virtual), I can make side-by-side windows any proportion I like. For a super-wide document (e.g. a billboard, or a long fold-out brochure) I can use the full screen and view the entire document at a humane size with no bezels to interfere. It's life-changing. Srsly. Color and overall display quality are immaculate. It's astonishingly better than I expected, and like I said in the headline, now that I've lived with it for a while, I couldn't live without it. July 31, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Good Curved Monitor! I got this for my music recording studio. I also do film editing. The split screen function to view 'Mix and Edit' windows is nice. The 34" screen is nice. I did a LOT of research before this purchase, and decided it was my best choice after deciding not to get a 4k monitor. This LG has great resolution, and is very user-friendly. I use a MacBook Pro, so the Thunderbolt capability in the monitor was a great plus for me. June 10, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this Monitor. This is a great monitor. I use the monitor to play Call of Duty Advance Warfare and having the additional screen size makes all the difference. Very clear and detailed. You will need a very good video card to take advantage of what this monitor can do. If you are a gamer, this is the monitor for you. My only problem is my son keeps on using my computer even though he has dual monitors on his computer. I have also has done film editing on the my computer using the 37" monitor and the ability to have multi windows open is very useful. This is the best monitor I have every owned. I bought it at Frys and got a great deal. May 12, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Incredible screen This monitor makes my work much more easier with the ability to display multiple documents. Watching videos, movies and TV are incredible. May 6, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Window to the soul of the internet Beautiful, for that you get 5 stars. The one but is that the stand really needs to be changed. Honestly for what we paid, it should come with a better stand. Games play well, moves look better than on my old plasma in the living room. We now watch almost everything on this monitor. April 30, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 Ultra wide is my standard now. For work or play, having an ultra wide screen makes everything easier. Having so much more work space for applications, gaming, and organization really helps me be more efficient in computer use. I haven't tried any other brands in the cinema screen resolution ratio, so I couldn't compare exactly, but LG reliably provides a good price value for their quality products. April 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Once set-up, you magically forget about the price I was working on two 23" 1080p 16:9 screens for a couple years and my work habits grew to fit the extra width that provided. The biggest complaint I had was the horrible black bezel that sat dead center in my line of sight. After much deliberation I decided to "bite the bullet" and order this display. I can safely say it is well worth the money. There's no distortion from lame Windows scaling, the colors are beautiful, and the best part is...no black bar down the center. April 19, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by This monitor has great features I needed a monitor that would split screens so that I could bring work home with me. This monitor is wide enough to split screens and still be able to see without straining my eyes March 31, 2015

Answer:
According to Apple, no. However, users have been able to drive 4K monitors @ 3840x2160 with MBA. My recommendation would be to take your MBA to a store selling this monitor which has it on display, and plug your cable in and see what happens.

I tried this in the store and we were unable to make it work at full res. There was an issue with the lower 1/5 of the screen being unreadable. It worked fine when we switched it to 2560x1080.

We appreciate your interest in this monitor. The maximum available resolution of the Thunderbolt port is 3440x1400 @ 60Hz. Beyond this, the only limiting factor would be the graphics card of the computer.

I received a Displayport and HDMI cable in the box (aside from the power brick/cable). You'll have to supply your own Thunderbolt or USB 3.0 upstream cable if you want to use that.

Answer:
The stand is not adjustable much in height...you have two options when connecting the stand as far as height goes and there is not too much difference. You can adjust the the tilt of the monitor, but that too is somewhat limited....but fine as far as I'm concerned. The back of the monitor does have holes for a VESA mount so you can attach to the wall or other VESA mounting system if you want. I have the standard stand attache at it's maximum height and it brings the bottom of the monitor to just under 4 inches above the desk.

Please tell me this comes with an HD Camera built in for Video Conferencing. If so, then this is the MUST HAVE Monitor for Audio & Video Professionals. I do a lot of SKYPE meetings with my current 27" Apple Display, but would like to upgrade to your new Ultrawide 34", please advise..???

Answer:
It does not. However you can put any HD webcam on top of it and plug it into the USB hub on the back of the display. When you do this with a Mac and use the thunderbolt display, it will automatically "connect through" the webcam whenever the thunderbolt cable is connected to the Mac.

LG34UM95-P HDMI - 50Hz

Could someone enlighten me as to why is the HDMI produces a 50Hz refresh rate despite it being an NTSC model? Makes no sense to me.

As an aside, I am using the Thunderbolt ports as well, but given the versatility of this monitor, I'm sure one can understand why I would want the HDMI performing @ 60Hz as well.

Answer:
The problem lies within HDMI cables not supporting high resolutions. I'm sure HDMI 2.0 will support high resolutions, but current HDMI cables do not.
If you don't wish to use Thunderbolt cables then Displayport cables work great at 60HZ.

Answer:
The only reason I can think of the HDMI at 50Hz refresh is so LG can sell you the 60Hz next year. However, unless you are doing some serious gaming, the 50Hz refresh is not an issue.

Answer:
We appreciate your interest in this monitor and its features. The variation in the refresh rate has to do with the native resolution of this monitor. The 21:9 aspect ratio is larger than the standard 16:9 ratio. This monitor is capable of display at 60Hz at a resolution of 1024x768, 1280x720, 1600x900, 1920x1080 and 2560x1080 when running a signal from the computer. When viewing video or TV signal, a 480p, 720p or 1080p resolution will be available at 60Hz. Each of these specifications can be viewed on page 35 of the owner’s manual.
