Good price for IPS panel
Date:January 6, 2012
"This is great monitor for $179, considering it has same panel as DELL U2311 that is $100 more expensive. I would not spend more than $200 on it though. It's good value for the money."

LG IPS236
Date:December 18, 2011
Best Features: Most lifelike images I have ever witness, with a rapid response time!
Cons: No a thing! Thats why this monitor has won awards!
"I have had numerous monitors over the past thirty years. This monitor is by far the best looking image I have ever experienced. The images on this monitor are so lifelike, it is like having a photo in front of you. The colors are very rich and vivid. I have the monitor setup using the DVI input from the video card on my desktop, but I also have an HDMI cable going to my Xbox 360. I can switch between the two using the input option on the front control panel. You can even choose a 3rd option of using the traditional VGA connector. I also have a 1/8 stereo headphone connector between the monitor and the "line in" input on the desktop. Since the Xbox is using HDMI, the sound is carried from the monitor over to the computer speakers. Its the best Xbox and PC setup I have ever experienced. For you gamers, like me, you will NEVER want to go back to a television again for either your PC or a stand alone system!!"

Sleep mode shoudl be labeled dead mode
Date:December 17, 2011
Best Features: Price/picture clarity
Cons: Buttons and sleep mode
"Purchased this after the AOC 21.5" monitor died after 28 days. On sale for the $179 it seemed like it might work. The other reviews were mainly positive. I was leary over the touch switch design but it was allright. The unit did nto seem wobbly to me but I am not trying to bounce it around either. The sleep mode SUCKS though. I wanted this for an older P4 XP machine but it would dual screen over to my I7. The problem is it woudl never set to full screen resolution of 1920 x 1080. My desktops were set to 1920 x 1200 from before on the Acer i had so i down shifted it to the new requirements. I kept getting a "out of range error" every time i tried to use the DVI connector atr 1920 x 1080. If i went VGA it would work eventually after the sleep issue was bypassed. Loaded the drivers in case there was an issue but no help. Plugged in the I7 and it worked. Could have been a OS or graphics card issue but I doubt it. Every time I meessed with the settings though and it went to the place where the monitor gave the "Out of range" error I woudl plug in the VGA cable to look at the setting and it would go into sleep mode and not come back out. If i unplugged the monitor disconnected the cables nothing. I had to reboot the computer to get it to come back up even in VGA mode. Never had a monitor that gave me this much trouble."

Excellent for intended purpose
Date:December 16, 2011
Best Features: BEAUTIFUL TEXT, GRAPHICS AND SPREADHEET EXPERIENCE
Cons: Backlight Bleeding in upper right corner - not noticeable in well lit office space
"This monitor was purchased to be used to extend my XP desktop also using a Dell Ultrasharp 2009W, and used in a well-lit office environment for text, graphics and spreadsheets. I thought my Dell ultrasharp produced crisp, clear text but is nothing compared the LG IPS panel. The LG IPS236 has much darker blacks, much brighter whites and the text is much sharper and easier on the eyes. With my office lights turned off, and the screens with only showing black desktops I see significant 'bleeding' on my IPS panel in the top right corner and my Dell Ultrasharp is still crisp and black all around #no bleeding#. I would not use the LG panel for home movie viewing in a dark room.. the 'bleeding' would be too noticeable. But for my office work this panel ROCKS. It is very much worth the money. NO issues with the stand, power button or OSD controls. Thank you LG for coming through with a great price !"
