LG ELECTRONICS FUSES FORM AND FUNCTION FOR LODGING INDUSTRY AT HD 2005 EXPO

LAS VEGAS, May 5, 2005 --- In a dramatic fusion of form and function, the leading provider of flat-panel displays to the lodging industry is showing how high-end hotels and resorts can incorporate the latest digital high-definition television (HDTV) technologies into their room designs.

LAS VEGAS, May 5, 2005 --- In a dramatic fusion of form and function, the leading provider of flat-panel displays to the lodging industry is showing how high-end hotels and resorts can incorporate the latest digital high-definition television (HDTV) technologies into their room designs.

LG Electronics, whose cutting-edge designs capitalize on ultra-thin liquid crystal display (LCD) and plasma display panel (PDP) technologies, is taking center stage at the HD 2005 Expo, the hospitality design industry trade show here this week.

From LG's stunning 71-inch plasma HDTV monitor, the largest PDP in production worldwide today, to a broad line of integrated LCD and plasma HDTV solutions, the company is paving the way for design-conscious hoteliers to enter the digital television era.

Ron Snaidauf, vice president, Commercial Products, LG Electronics USA, Inc., said, "Complementing our award-winning display technologies are the three main things that hotel design experts are seeking today:

---First, LG is the first to develop a fully integrated solution to delivering digital HDTV including encrypted on-demand premium programming to guest rooms.

---Second, as one of the world's largest flat-panel display producers, LG offers the broadest array of options from 32-inch LCD and 42-inch plasma integrated HDTVs for guest rooms, to 50- and 60-inch plasmas for suites and lounges, and many other sizes.

---Finally, as a long-time lodging industry player, LG is the name that leading hotel operators turn to for flexible design and technology solutions that meet their varying needs," Snaidauf said.

Case in point: LG Electronics is the one and only television manufacturer featured in the HD 2005 "Hotel of Tomorrow" exhibition. This glimpse into the future, showcasing the design of the guest room in the year 2025, exclusively highlights flat-panel HDTV technologies from LG Electronics.

In its own cutting-edge booth, LG Electronics is demonstrating to hospitality design insiders the latest display advances, including wide-viewing-angle Super IPS LCD technology and LG's proprietary XD EngineTM technology. The second-generation XD Engine chip takes the low resolution of analog signals to near high-definition levels, im-proving brightness, contrast, detail and enhancing color as well as reducing signal noise.

Significantly, LG's 50- and 42-inch inch plasma displays feature the company's 60,000-hour 'DoubleLife' panels, extending PDP longevity, while comprehensive sticking prevention measures minimize the effect of stationary images on plasma screens.

Of special interest to HD 2005 attendees, form and function collide in LG's unique industrial design approaches that include swivel stands, stunning gloss black and brushed aluminum finishes, and integrated speaker systems that emphasize the widescreen format of the flat-panel HDTVs.
