Displays Boast New Integrated Technologies for Custom Installers, Eliminate the Need for a Separate Set-top Boxff

INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 8, 2004 - Bringing the benefits of large-screen liquid crystal display (LCD) technology to the custom installation home theater market, LG Electronics today unveiled a new series of integrated high-definition television (HDTV) models.

Shown for the first time at the CEDIA 2004 Expo (Booth #310) here this week, the 42-, 37-, and 30-inch integrated widescreen high-definition LCD HDTVs are the latest additions to LG's extensive LCD product line. Ideal for any home setting, these LCD HDTVs - equipped with LG's proprietary Super In Plane Switching (Super IPS) technology - provide the fastest response times and widest viewing angles on the market today.

Home theater installers and enthusiasts alike are demanding customized solutions that not only deliver quality images, but allow for cost savings by eliminating the need for a separate set-top box, said Robert A. Perry, vice president, consumer electronics sales, LG Electronics U.S.A., Inc. These integrated LCDs are the perfect choice for installation professionals and consumers looking for sleek industrial designs and space-saving solutions.

The 42-inch DU-42LZ30 integrated widescreen LCD HDTV incorporates a built-in NTSC/ATSC/Clear QAM tuner, 1366 x 768p WXGA resolution, a 1000:1 contrast ratio, peak brightness of 500 cd/m2, Super IPS technology, and built-in speakers. Model DU-42LZ30 is available now at a suggested retail price of $7,999.

Two other models - the 37-inch DU-37LZ30 and the 30-inch DU-30LZ30 integrated LCD HDTVs - also are included in this product family. These models also incorporate Super IPS technology and are equipped with built-in speakers. Both models are available now at suggested retail prices of $5,999 and $3,199, respectively.

These new integrated LCD displays receive free, over-the-air digital broadcasts without the need for a separate set-top box. They also feature LGs proven ATSC VSB/QAM tuner, which receives terrestrial digital HDTV and unscrambled digital cable broadcasts, and an NTSC tuner for conventional analog TV broadcasts.

Visitors to the LG booth will experience a full array of products for home theaters and the custom installation market, including plasma displays and other home theater devices.
