NEW YORK, July 27, 2006 - LG Electronics rolled out the red carpet to unveil its 2006 home appliance portfolio at the company's summer line show today at Madame Tussauds' Wax Museum in New York City.
At the exclusive event - celebrating more than 200 of the world's most famous personalities, from Albert Einstein and the Beatles, to Jimi Hendrix, Henry Ford, Oprah Winfrey and Muhammad Ali - LG showcased its broad lineup of home appliances. These include LG's full-kitchen array of ranges, refrigerators, microwave ovens and dishwashers, along with laundry innovations, including the world's first steam washing machine and the unique stackable Tromm Control Center Laundry System that allows consumers to select the placement of the control panel. During today's pre-holiday season preview, LG also highlighted other product categories including mobile phones, plasma HDTVs and digital video/audio products.
"This year has been filled with many achievements for LG in the appliance category. Much of that success can be attributed to our commitment to identifying the latest trends and technologies, in order to create and bring to market new, exciting and highly-designed products, with advanced features and options that enhance consumers' every day lives," said Soon Kwon, president of Digital Appliances for LG Electronics USA, Inc. "Our premium home appliance flagship products, such as our industry-firsts, like the TV Refrigerator with weather forecasting capabilities, SteamWasher and Panorama three-door refrigerator with external ice and water dispenser, are proof that LG is second to none in major appliance innovation. This year marks another important LG milestone as we continue to define the future of this category in the United States and abroad."
While focusing on premium home appliances in the United States, LG continues to gain traction and is fast becoming a global appliance leader, ranking number one in the manufacturing of residential air conditioners and canister vacuum cleaners. And with continued consumer demand for stylish, technologically advanced products, LG is poised to continue to capture market share in the United States across all product categories.
The company's 2006 home appliance innovations include:
TV Refrigerator with WeatherPlusTM: LG continues to make kitchens more innovative, stylish and family-friendly with the introduction of its next generation TV Refrigerator. In addition to its remote-controlled, cable-ready, 15-inch LCD television screen (with DVD connection on top of the unit) on the right door, the sleek side-by-side LG refrigerator now includes a four-inch WeatherPlus LCD display located above the dispenser. This addition delivers personalized weather forecasts based on a consumer's geographic location, as well as offers an uploadable digital photo album, eight-category recipe bank with 100 pre-loaded recipes and more. The LG TV Refrigerator with WeatherPlus is available in a titanium finish at a manufacturer's suggested retail price ranging from $3,499 to $3,699.
PanoramaTM Three-Door Refrigerator: LG's new Panorama three-door refrigerator line offers another level of convenience and functionality. Redefining the French-door category, and using revolutionary technology, this innovative new model places the icemaker within the refrigerator door - compared to other three-door models that have the icemaker in the freezer compartment located at the bottom of the unit. The updated LG refrigerators are available in variety of finishes including smooth white, smooth black, titanium and stainless steel, with a manufacturer's suggested retail price ranging from $2,199 to $2,799.
LG Range: Completing the company's full kitchen offering is the new LG Range with blue interior, which delivers superior cooking versatility and added convenience, making it easier than ever for consumers to achieve great cooking results. With a 5.6 cubic foot capacity, the LG Range offers the industry's largest available capacity oven for a 30-inch range. The premium, blue interior, large capacity oven provides the cooking space needed for large family dinners, entertaining and special events. Featuring a sleek, sophisticated design, the LG Range is available in a variety of finishes to suit any kitchen style and match other LG appliances, including smooth white, smooth black and stainless steel, at a manufacturer's suggested retail price ranging from $949 to $1,399.
Microwave Ovens: LG offers a variety of over-the-range microwave ovens, ensuring consumers the perfect fit for their kitchen. Key design features such as contoured handles and stainless steel finishes that wrap around the sides of the microwave create a sleek, stylish look. Offering a 2.0-cubic foot capacity, one of LG's over-the-range units features the LG's Glide 'n CookTM system - a unique sliding tray that maximizes cooking space and promotes even cooking. The product also incorporates an easy-to-reach MonitorTM look control panel placed across the bottom of the unit. It features 1,100 watts of power, 300 CFM's of ventilation and a melt/soften function for various cooking needs. Models include two halogen cook top lights and WideView" windows for easier viewing. The microwave is available in stainless steel, smooth white or smooth black at a manufacturer's suggested retail price ranging from $399 to $449.
Dishwashers: In addition to be being among the quietest dishwashers on the market (48 decibels), the LG Dishwasher line features an extra large stainless steel tub with one of the largest capacities available in the U.S. - fitting 16 place settings, versus the standard 12 or 14 offered by competitive models. The line sports a sleek, sophisticated design and is available in semi- and fully-integrated models. The semi-integrated models feature controls and a digital display on the outside door, while the fully-integrated versions have an optional digital display on the outside door and controls hidden on top for a more 'polished' look. As with all LG appliances, the company's dishwasher line is also energy-efficient and low in water consumption. LG's dishwasher line comes in a variety of finishes - including smooth white, smooth black and stainless steel - at a manufacturer's suggested retail price ranging from $699 to $999.
SteamWasherTM: LG recently unveiled the world's first washing machine to incorporate steam technology, offering greater energy efficiency and water conservation when compared to traditional machines, along with an extra-large capacity to deliver cleaner clothes. Introducing an entirely new concept of clothing care, the unit also boasts a unique 20-minute SteamFresh" Cycle, which uses the power of steam to reduce wrinkles and refresh clothing without the use of water or detergent. The SteamWasher is available in white and midnight blue finishes at a manufacturer's suggested retail price ranging from $1,499 to $1,599.
Additionally, the product line is compatible with the award-winning LG Remote Monitoring System, which allows consumers to monitor cycle progress remotely via a small device. With a quick glance at the remote monitor, users can see the progress and remaining time on the washing and drying cycles. This system is available as an accessory package for $99.
Tromm Control Center Laundry System with Adaptable" Control: Joining LG's roster of laundry products is the innovative Tromm Control Center Laundry System - an industry first that allows consumers the space saving convenience of stackable laundry without compromising capacity and easy to reach controls. The Adaptable control of the dryer can be placed on the top of the unit for side-by-side installations, or moved to the bottom for a stack configuration. The control is always at a convenient height and is versatile enough to change as your needs change. The LG Tromm Control Center Laundry System measures in at 4.0-cubic feet for the washer and 7.3-cubic feet for the dryer, making it the one of the largest capacity stackable systems available on the market. The manufacturer's suggested retail price ranges from $1,199 to $1,299 for the washer and $999 to $1,099 for the dryer. These units are also compatible with the LG Remote Monitoring Laundry System.
