Oven gets WAY too hot

I have an LG electric convection oven purchased new in June 2007. It suddenly gets way too hot and burns everything. If you set it to bake at 350 it just keeps going up and up in temperature. I have unplugged it and left it unplugged for several minutes and it did not fix it.

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this range. It does appear that there could be a problem with the control board of the unit. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

How can I clean a strip of melted plastic from the stove to?

I have an LRE30453ST electric range and have a melted 1"x10" strip of plastic from a bag of frozen vegetables that was set on a hot burner. I have tried using the stove top cleaner but that has not worked well. Is there a solvent or cleaning product that you recommend?

Answer:
According to page 30 of the owner’s manual, if any sugar or food containing sugar (preserves, ketchup, tomato sauce, jellies, fudge, candy, syrups, chocolate, etc.), a plastic item or kitchen foil accidentally melts on the hot surface of your cooktop, remove the molten material IMMEDIATELY with a metal razor scraper (it will not damage the decorated cooking surface) while the cooking surface is still hot to avoid the risk of damage to the glass-ceramic surface. For your safety please wear an oven mitt potholder while cleaning the hot cooking surface.

Answer:
For general cleaning, use a cloth with hot and soapy water. For more difficult soils and built-up grease, apply a liquid detergent directly onto the soil. Leave on soil for 30 to 60 minutes. Rinse with a damp cloth and dry. DO NOT use abrasive cleaners on the unit, as they can scratch. This unit also has a SELF CLEAN feature. We do not recommend any other forms of oven cleaners.

Answer:
Yes, it will back with or without convection heating, and it does have a bottom element....you can't see it because it's under the oven floor but it works just as well.

Answer:
THE ELEMENT IS UNDER THE LOWER PAN TO KEEP EXCESS DRIPS AND FOOD FROM FALLING ON IT. IT ALSO MAKES IT EASIER TO CLEAN.
