Here are great ways to stream all of your music, videos and photos from the comfort of your own sofa. With Smart Share or Wi-Fi Direct™, send all of your favorite multimedia content from your PC, laptop, tablet, smartphone or USB device directly to your TV via your Smart Blu-ray Player.

PLAY FILES FROM A COMPUTER WITH SMART SHARE

MAKE SURE YOU ARE CONNECTED TO A NETWORK:

As you might expect, this is designed to work on a home network. It doesn't matter whether that network is wired or wireless, although with Wi-Fi you'll need to ensure that your network has sufficient bandwidth for what you want to do. We'd recommend 802.11n Wi-Fi for serious home sharing.

If your Smart Blu-ray Player is not connected, see how to set up your network connection.

MAKE SURE YOU COMPUTER IS DLNA-ENABLED

You've probably got DLNA devices in your home already. There are a lot of DLNA devices out there, including Windows PCs, Android™ phones (like the LG Optimus G™), tablets, Smart Blu-ray Players, and flat-screen TVs.

A simple test is if you see the icon for the devices in the Smart Share hub on your TV (see: Using Smart Share on your Smart Blu-Ray Player below).

  NOTE:

  • On your computer, you must share the folder containing video, audio and/or photo content to play them.
  • The supplied Nero MediaHome 4 Essentials software does not support the following functions: Transcoding, Remote UI, TV control, Internet services and Apple iTunes.

INSTALLING A DLNA MEDIA PLAYER ON YOUR COMPUTER

You must use a DLNA media player to stream media from the PC to the TV. (DLNA stands for Digital Living Network Alliance, which allows users to access video, photo and audio files stored in servers and enjoy them on TV via home networking.) There are many DLNA media players you can use.

We have supplied the CD-ROM for Nero MediaHome 4 Essentials DLNA media player with your Smart Blu-ray Player. It works for both Mac and Windows:

  1. Start up your computer.
  2. Insert the supplied CD-ROM disc into your computer's CD-ROM drive.
  3. Install the 'Nero MediaHome' application by double-clicking the 'Nero MediaHome' icon.
  4. Start the application by double-clicking the 'Nero MediaHome' icon.

Once the application is installed and running you will see the icon for it in the Smart Share hub on the TV. (see: Using Smart Share on your Smart Blu-ray Player below).

USING SMART SHARE

  • Depending on the types of file or ways of recording, it may not play back. See user manual for full file requirements.
USING SMART SHARE ON YOUR SMART BLU-RAY PLAYER

Now that your computer and your Smart Blu-ray player are connected to the same network and that you are running a DLNA media player on your computer, here is how to stream media from the PC to the TV.



With your Smart Blu-ray Player remote:

  1. Press HOME to display the home menu.
  2. Select the Smart Share icon and press ENTER/WHEEL.
  3. Select the desired linked device in the category.
  4. Select MOVIE, PHOTO or MUSIC.
  5. Select a file and press PLAY or ENTER or WHEEL.

PLAY FILES FROM A TABLET OR MOBILE DEVICE WITH SMART SHARE

Connect to the same network.

In order to play the video from tablet or mobile phone on your TV, you need to first connect your mobile device to the same WiFi network your Smart Blu-ray Player is on.

If you do not have a wired or wireless network, see how to connect your devices via Wi-Fi-Direct™.

Activate the Smart Share option on your device.

Then you need to activate the Smart Share option on your phone or tablet and on your Smart Blu-ray Player.

On your device, you need to select the app that you want to share via Smart Share.

  NOTE:

  • To function, you need a smartphone that has Smart Share.
  • Refer to the smartphone's manual to use the Smart Share function.

PLAY FILES FROM A CD OR USB DEVICE WITH SMART SHARE

This player can play video, audio and photo files contained on a CD or USB device.

  • 1.  Insert a data disc in the disc slot or connect a USB device.

File loading may take a few minutes depending on the amount of content stored in the USB storage device.

With your Smart Blu-ray Player remote:

  • 2.  Press HOME.
  • 3.  Select SMART SHARE and press ENTER or WHEEL.
  • 4.  Select the desired linked device in the category.
  • 5.  Select MOVIE, PHOTO or MUSIC.
  • 6.  Select a file and press PLAY or ENTER or WHEEL.

  NOTE:

  • Some USB devices may not work with this unit.
  • Digital camera and mobile phone are not supported.

PLAY FILES FROM A WI-FI DIRECT™ CERTIFIED DEVICE

For when you don't have a Wi-Fi network.

Wi-Fi Direct™ allows devices to connect directly to each other, without the need for a Wi-Fi access point. This player can play movie, music and photo files located in a Wi-Fi Direct™ certified device.

On your mobile device:

  • 1.  Start the Wi-Fi-Direct™ function.
  • 2.  Run the DLNA app on the device.

On your Smart Blu-ray Player:

  • 3.  Select NETWORK option in the SETTINGS menu, then press WHEEL.
  • 4.  Select WI-FI DIRECT option, and press WHEEL.
  • 5.  Select a Wi-Fi-Direct™ device on the list using WHEEL.

The Wi-Fi Direct™ connection will proceed. Follow the procedure on the screen.

To select a server from the device list, files or folders must be shared by the DLNA server from the connected Wi-Fi Direct™ device.

  • 6.  Select MOVIE, PHOTO or MUSIC and press WHEEL.
  • 7.  Select a file and press WHEEL to play the file.

DOWNLOAD SPECIAL CONTENT WITH YOUR BD/DVD

BD-Live downloadable featurettes, quizzes, and movie trailers

A Blu-ray disc supporting BD-Live for Smart Blu-ray Players utilizes your Internet connection and allows you to download additional content.

  1. Check your network connection.
  2. Insert a USB storage device in the USB port on the front panel. (A USB storage device is needed to download bonus content.)
  3. Press HOME and set the BD-LIVE CONNECTION option on the SETTINGS menu.
  4. Insert a BD-ROM with BD-Live.

  NOTE:

  • The operations may differ depending on the disc. Refer to the manual supplied with the disc.
