IE Error Code - Dishwasher

Operation Dishwashers Last Updated 01/14/2015

LG Dishwasher IE Error Code

An IE error code on the display of your dishwasher can indicate that the unit has sensed water inlet trouble. Normally this error will occur if the dishwasher was unable to fill with the amount of water needed during the beginning of the cycle.

This time of year, cold and freezing weather conditions can freeze the water in the water supply lines. This interruption in the water supply will cause an IE error code. Once the temperature increases above freezing, the water supply will resume.

Other causes include:

New Installations
Water Supply Check
Drain Hose Installation
Winter Season Issues
Section line separator

New Installations

If your dishwasher was recently installed, you want to be certain that the water supply valve from your home is fully turned on. Inspect the water line for any kinks or bends that may be preventing water from filling your dishwasher properly. It is also important to check the leveling of your dishwasher, as improper leveling may cause an IE error code.

Water Supply Check

Your dishwasher needs a water supply with the water pressure to be between 20-120 PSI. If the water pressure from your home is too low, your dishwasher will not fill properly. This can result in an IE error code display.

Drain Hose Installation

If your drain hose outlet is installed lower than the base of your dishwasher, it is possible that this could cause premature draining. This can result in an IE error code display. The height of the drain hose end must be over 10” from the bottom of the dishwasher to avoid water being siphoned from the tub.

Winter Season Issues

If your dishwasher is installed in a location where parts of it could be exposed to temperatures below freezing, it is possible for parts of the dishwasher to freeze. You can melt the frozen parts by soaking a towel in warm water and wrapping it around the frozen area. Once the frozen area has thawed the dishwasher should be able to operate.
