LG Washer – Troubleshooting Detergent Left in the Dispenser

  • Troubleshooting

At a Glance

If the detergent or additives you added to the wash cycle are not dispensed completely into the washer tub, it can be due to the amount of detergent used, incorrect detergent being used, or an indicator that maintenance is required.

Note
  • LG only recommends the use of (HE) detergent for optimal performance.
  • Do not exceed the MAX fill line in the dispenser area of your washer. This can lead to detergent remaining in the dispenser.

Try This

What type of detergent are you using (powder/liquid)?

If you are adding powdered detergent to the liquid detergent cup, the detergent will not be dispensed properly, blocking the entrance and causing overflowing.

Note

This will vary depending on the model as there are models that do not have a liquid detergent cup.

Poweder in liquid detergent compartment.

Be sure to remove the liquid detergent cup if you are using powdered detergent.

Type A

Type B

Type B lifts away after removing the dispenser guard

Clean the dispenser tray and/or drawer.

Over time the dispenser can become clogged with buildup from detergent and other additives.

Type A

With Type A, a drawer pulls out to reveal the dispenser

1Open the dispenser drawer, then pull it out while pressing the [PUSH] button

2Clean it with a brush using lukewarm water.

3Reassemble and reinsert the dispenser drawer.

Type B

With Type B, the top slides in to reveal the dispenser

1Open the dispenser compartment and pull the edges up to pull it out as shown.

2Pull out the fabric softener dispenser and lift the cover and clean it with a brush using lukewarm water.

3Reassemble and reinsert into the dispenser area.

Be sure the compartment pieces are assembled correctly and securely installed.

If the detergent tray/compartments are not installed properly it can restrict water flow and cause detergent/additives to remain.
