LG Air Conditioner - Why Does My A/C Turn Off By Itself?

If your air conditioner is powering off on its own, this can be caused by the unit not being on a dedicated circuit breaker, or from an incorrect mode setting.

Select your air conditioner unit for power troubleshooting solutions.

    1. Check the air conditioner display for any error codes.

      Error codes can indicate a problem with the unit or that maintenance is required for proper function.

    2. Check the temperature setting and mode.

      Depending on the A/C placement and selected mode, the unit may shut off prematurely even though the room has not reached the desired temperature. It is recommended you select a lower temperature setting than the current temperature or use a timed mode.

    3. Check the A/C power cord.

      Unplug the power cord and inspect it for damage or splitting. If free of damage, plug the A/C power cord into a its own outlet and ensure it is fully inserted.

    4. Check if the circuit breaker is tripped.

      Inspect the home's circuit breaker or the fuse dedicated to the air conditioner to see if it has been tripped or is blown. Reset or replace if necessary.

    5. The current interrupter device is tripped.

      Press the [RESET] button located on the power cord plug. If the [RESET] button will not stay engaged, discontinue use of the air conditioner, as service is required.
