LG SPIRIT MS870 BACKUP

Backup by LG allows users to backup and restore user settings for LG Home screen, Bookmarks, contacts, call logs, on-device calendar events, SMS, systems settings, and application data.


To create a backup file, open the application by pressing the Apps Icon  > Backup

  1. Tap Backup

  2. Tap the preferred backup location, SD Card or Internal Storage

Note: It is recommended that backup files are stored on microSD card.

  1. Tap Add new

  2. Enter a name for your backup file

  3. Place a check by the files you wish to backup then tap Continue. The choices are:

    • Application (Downloaded)
    • Application (Pre-Installed)
    • Bookmarks
    • Calendar
    • Call logs
    • Contacts
    • Home screen
    • Messages
    • System settings


  4. Once the backup is complete, a Backup Complete message will appear. Tap Continue.

Note: These steps are not needed if a MicroSD card was used in backup process.

After the factory data reset, the backup files stored internal are deleted. Before factory reset, you need to move the backup files to an external device through the PC and then save them in the backup folder of the phone.

To do this, use the following steps:

  1. Connect microUSB cable (in box) to device port and PC USB port

  2. Open Windows Explorer or click Open device to view files from AutoPlay pop-up, then click on LG-MS870 drive > Internal Storage > Backup

  1. Locate backup file name that you would like to copy to PC and right click > Copy

  2. Right click Documents > Paste

  3. Verify file is in Documents Library on PC


Note: These steps are not needed if a MicroSD card was used in backup process.

After the factory data reset, the backup files stored internally are deleted. Before factory reset, you need to save the backup files to the backup folder of the phone.

To do this, use the following steps:

  1. Connect microUSB cable (in box) to device port and PC USB port

  2. Open Windows Explorer or click Open device to view files from AutoPlay pop-up

  1. Locate backup file that you would like to copy from PC to device.

    Right click file > Send to > LG-MS870

  2. Click LG-MS870 > Internal storage

  3. Locate file that was sent to LG-MS870. Left click and move file to Backup folder.

  4. Double-click the Backup folder to open and verify file was moved.


To restore from a backup file, open the application by pressing the Apps Icon > Backup

  1. Tap Restore

  2. Tap the location the file you wish to restore from is stored, SD Card or Internal Storage

  3. Tap the name of the file you are restoring.

  4. Place a check by the files you wish to restore then tap Continue. The choices are:

    • Application (Downloaded)
    • Application (Pre-Installed)
    • Bookmarks
    • Calendar
    • Call logs
    • Contacts
    • Home screen
    • Messages
    • System settings

  5. A message will appear about the Cross version restore, tap OK.

  6. Once the restore is complete, a Files restored message will appear. Tap Yes to complete the restore process.

To schedule a backup, open the application by pressing the Apps Icon > Backup

  1. Tap Schedule

  2. Tap the preferred backup location, SD Card or Internal Storage.

  3. Select the backup frequency by checking one of the following, then click Continue:

    Never
    Daily
    Weekly
    Every two weeks
    Monthly
    Set time


  4. Place a check by the files you wish to restore then tap Continue. The choices are:

    • Application (Downloaded)
    • Application (Pre-Installed)
    • Bookmarks
    • Calendar
    • Call logs
    • Contacts
    • Home screen
    • Messages
    • System settings

  5. You will be returned to the home screen. It will display when the next scheduled backup will begin.
