BACKUP USING THE LG OPTIMUS F7™ US780

Backup by LG allows users to backup and restore user settings for LG Home screen, Bookmarks, contacts, call logs, on-device calendar events, SMS, systems settings, and application data.

Note:

The first time you run Backup you will need to agree to the End User License Agreement and run through a brief tutorial.

Create a backup file

1. From the Home Screen, tap Apps > Backup > Manual backup

2. Choose between Internal Storage or SD Card  to store your backup.

Note:

Backup to SD Card is always recommended, if you select Internal Storage a pop-up will notify you that your backup (and all files) will be deleted from your phone after a factory data reset. Tap OK to continue. If you backed up to Internal Storage, copy your backup file to a PC before performing a factory data reset.


3. Tap New backup to create a backup, name your backup in the prompt, then select Continue.

Checkmark an item you would like to backup on your phone, tap the expand icon  next to each item for addition settings.


5. Tap Backup to begin backup process. You will be prompted when the backup is complete, select Continue to exit the application.

Copy backup file to PC

Note:

If your backup file was saved to Internal Storage, a factory reset will delete the backup file. Before a factory data rest you will need to move/copy the backup files to a PC. If your backup file was saved to SD Card, ensure you do not select option to erase SD card.


1.

Connect your phone to a PC using a MicroUSB cable (you may use the cable attached to your LG charger).


2. Once connected, you may be prompted on your phone to select a USB connection type, select Media sync (MTP).

3. On the PC, open My computer/Computer > LG-US780 > Internal storage > LGBackup.

4. Right mouse click on the backup file (ending with .lbf) and select Copy.

5. Select a location on the PC to save the file too, right mouse click in that location and select Paste to save the backup file to the PC.

Copy backup file from PC to device

1.

Connect your phone to a PC using a MicroUSB cable (you may use the cable attached to your LG charger).


2. Once connected, you may be prompted on your phone to select a USB connection type, select Media sync (MTP).

3. On the PC, right mouse click on the backup file (ending with .sbf) you previously saved on your PC and select Copy.

4. Open My computer/Computer > LG-US780 > Internal storage > LGBackup.

5. Right mouse click in that location and select Paste to save the backup file to your phone.

Restore a backup file

1. From the Home Screen, tap Apps > Backup > Restore

2.

Tap the backup you would like to restore.

Checkmark each item you would like to restore on your phone, tap the expand icon  next to each item for addition settings.


Note:

Your phone data will be overwritten with the contents of your backup.


4. Select Restore to begin the process. You will be prompted when the restore is complete, select Yes to exit the application. Your device will restart automatically.

Schedule a backup

1. From the Home Screen, tap Apps > Backup > Auto backup 

2. Choose between Internal Storage or SD Card  to store your backup.

Checkmark each item you would like to backup on your phone, tap the expand icon  next to each item for addition settings.


4.

Select the backup time and frequency by checking one of the following, then tap Done to set the backup schedule.


Note:

Scheduled backups can be switched ON/OFF after being set.
