LG G2 VS980 WIFI BASICS

To use Wi-Fi on your phone, you need access to a wireless access point. Some access points are open and you can simply connect to them. Others are hidden or implement other security features, so you must configure your phone in order to connect to them.


  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps  > Settings  > Wi-Fi

Note: The first time you access Wi-Fi a tutorial prompt will display. Checkmark  Don't show this again to not show when accessing Wi-Fi settings again. Tap Continue with a guided tutorial to connect to a network or Close tutorial to skip. If already connected a network, tapping Continue will skip to end of the tutorial and state Done.

  1. Tap the Wi-Fi switch  to turn on Wi-Fi and begin scanning for available access points. A list of available Wi-Fi networks will be displayed. Secured networks are indicated by a lock icon  .

  2. Tap a network to connect to it:

    • If the network is open, you are prompted to confirm that you want to connect to that network by tapping Connect.
    • If the network is secured, you are prompted to enter a password or other credentials. (Ask your network administrator for details).
  3. The  icon in the Status Bar shows you're connected.

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps  > Settings > Wi-Fi

  2. Tap the Menu key  to select from the following settings:

    • WPS Push Button - setup a Wi-Fi connection with a compatible push button router.
    • WPS Pin Entry - setup a Wi-Fi connection with a router that can except PIN entry.
    • Wi-Fi Direct - create a peer-to-peer connection with a compatible device.

    Note: Wi-Fi must be on to edit settings.

  3. Tap the Advanced Wi-Fi to select from the following settings:

    • Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep - Wi-Fi will stay connected regardless if your phone is unlocked or not.
    • Wi-Fi signal weak - checkmark   to automatically disconnect from a weak Wi-Fi network.
    • Internet unavailable - checkmark   to automatically disconnect from Wi-Fi network if there is no internet connection.
    • Wi-Fi optimization - checkmark   to reduce power usage while using Wi-Fi.
    • Manage networks - tap, then drag   to re-order the list of saved networks.
    • MAC address - your phones Wi-Fi address.
    • IP address - address of connected Wi-Fi access point.
