You can extend your battery's life between charges by turning off features you don't need. You can also monitor how apps and system resources consume battery power.

Note: Some Settings, Menus, or Icons may differ from that of your device, this article should only be used as a general reference.

Navigate to Battery in order to identify what is driving battery usage.

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps  > Settings  > Battery

Several Options to Extend Battery Life:

  • Disable NFC when not in use.
  • Disable Wi-Fi when not in use.
  • Change Email Sync frequency to a longer time between syncing.
  • Change Location mode to Battery saving option.
  • Turn down screen brigtness in the Display options under Settings.
  • Set a shorter Sleep timeout in the Display options under Settings.

Select features to turn off/on or to change value when the battery drops below a certain level.

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps  > Settings  > Battery

The list at the bottom of the screen shows the breakdown of battery usage for individual apps and services. Touch a graph for more details. The details screen for some apps includes buttons that allow you to adjust settings affecting power usage, or stop the app completely.

Note: If you stop some apps or services, your device may not work correctly.

Battery status (Charging, Not charging) and level (as a percentage of fully charged) are displayed at the top of the screen.

The discharge graph shows battery level over time since you last charged the device, and how long you've been running on battery power.
