LG ANDROID MEMORY MANAGEMENT

If you notice your device running slower than usual, memory management may help improve performance. Use the steps provided in this guide to improve memory management of your device.

Note: Some Settings, Menus, or Icons may differ from that of your device depending on your software version and wireless service provider.


When using applications, browsing the web, or other activities Android will save temporary/cached files. These files can safely be removed from your device.

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps  > Settings  (may be found under General tab) > Storage .

  2. Scroll down the list and tap Cached data.

  3. When prompted, tap Yes to clear.

If you have limited space on your device or no longer use an App, the following options can help free space

To clear App Temporary files/Cache

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps  > Settings  > Apps (may be found under General Tab).

  2. Swipe from right to left until you reach the All tab.

  3. Scroll through the list, then tap an App to view info.

  4. Tap Clear cache.

To Delete/Disable an App

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps  > Settings  > Apps  (may be found under General Tab).

  2. Swipe from right to left until you reach the All tab.

  3. Scroll through the list, then tap an App to view info.

  4. Tap Delete or Disable (some pre-installed apps cannot be deleted but can be removed from memory) to remove the app.

Note: Some apps are needed for your device to run properly, deleting or disabling a system app may causing device issues.

You can manage your phones memory space by discarding temporary files, downloaded files, or uninstalling idle apps (apps that have not been used for a set duration) using Smart Cleaning icon .

Note: Smart Cleaning is a pre-installed App and may not be available on your device.

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps  > Settings  > Smart cleaning icon (may be found under General Tab).

  2. Select Temporary files, Download folder, or Idle apps.

  3. Checkmark icon the files, cache, or apps you want to remove or uninstall, then tap Clean.

Note: This process cannot be reversed. All information checked will be removed or uninstalled once you press Clean. You can install applications again from the Play Store. The Download folder option may list files saved on your SD Card.

Smart Cleaning Settings

  1. From within Smart cleaning, tap Menu key icon > Settings.

  2. Tap Notification interval to set when you would like to receive a notification for cleaning.

  3. Tap Idle time period to set a notification to show the files and/or apps that aren't being used.
