Contacts: Backup and Share

Note: Some Settings, Menus, or Icons may differ from that of your device, this article should only be used as a general reference.


  1. From the Home Screen, tap Apps  > Contacts

  2. Select add

  3. Note: You can also access phone, enter the number under Dial tab and select Create Contact.

  4. Above the contact name, tap to select an Account of where to save the contact.

  5. Note: By default contacts will be saved to the internal phone memory.
    For android devices it is recommended to save contacts to your Gmail Account because contacts saved to the phone can only be viewed on the phone.
    Contacts saved to the Gmail Account are backed up online, can be viewed on the phone and are accessible from the Gmail Account on any device.

  6. Enter a name and Phone number for the contact.

  7. Tap Save.

  1. Please select the type of device you want to manage contacts from. Android Device IOS (Apple) Device Outlook
  2. Would you like to Import, Export, Copy, or Merge / Join contacts? Import Export Copy Merge / Join
  3. Sync IOS contacts with the iCloud.

    1. From the main screen of your IOS device, access your Apps > Settings > iCloud

    2. Locate contacts and validate the tab is turned on

    Export contacts from the iCloud.

    1. On a computer or on your phone, open the browser to www.icloud.com.

    2. Enter your Apple ID and password.

    3. Select Contacts

    4. Either select individual contacts or select the gear on bottom left and click Select All.

    5. Select the Gear and click export VCard.

    6. Note: By default most browsers will save files to a download folder.
      If you experience difficulties with Google Chrome, try another browser.

    Import contacts to Gmail.

    1. On a computer or on your phone, open the browser to contacts.google.com.

    2. Enter your gmail user and password.

    3. Select More > Import.

    4. Select Choose File and locate the file exported from the iCloud.

    5. Select Open.

    6. Select Import.

    Note: By adding the Gmail Account to your phone, all your contacts in Gmail will display.

  4. Export contacts from outlook and import them to Gmail

    1. Open Microsoft Outlook and access the contacts tab

    2. Select File > Import and Export.

    3. Selsect Expport to a file and click next.

    4. Select Comma Separated Values and click next.

    5. Select Contacts and click next.

    6. Select the Browse button.

    7. Select where you want to save contacts, give the file a name and click OK.

    8. Select Next.

    9. Select finish.

    Import contacts to Gmail.

    1. On a computer or on your phone, open the browser to contacts.google.com.

    2. Enter your gmail user and password.

    3. Select More > Import.

    4. Select Choose File and locate the file exported from the iCloud.

    5. Select Open.

    6. Select Import.

  5. Import will let you bring contacts from a back up location such as SIM Card, SD Card or internal memory to an added account such as an email.

    1. From the Home Screen, tap Apps  > Contacts
    2. Tap Menu

    3. Select Manage contacts.

  6. Export will copy contacts from your current contact list to a desired location such as the SD card, SIM Card and internal memory.

    1. From the Home Screen, tap Apps  > Contacts
    2. Tap Menu

    3. Select Manage contacts.

    1. Tap Import.

    2. Select from where to import.

    3. Select the destination to save the contacts.

    4. Select the file to import and tap import on the bottom right.


    1. Tap Import / Export.

    2. Tap Import from SIM Card or Import from SD card.

    3. Select the destination of where to save the contacts.

    4. Select the file to import and tap import on the bottom right.


    1. Tap Back up.

    2. Tap the destination to save the contacts.

    3. Tap the individual contacts or SELECT ALL and tap export on the bottom right.

    4. Enter a desired file name and tap OK which will create a .vcf.


    1. Tap Import / Export.

    2. Tap Export to SIM Card or Export to SD card.

    3. Tap the individual contacts or SELECT ALL and tap export on the bottom right.

    4. Enter a desired file name and tap OK which will create a .vcf.

  7. Copy, will copy contacts from an Account to another Account such as one email to another.

    1. From the Home Screen, tap Apps  > Contacts
    2. Tap Menu

    3. Select Manage contacts.

    4. Tap Copy.

    5. Select an Account where to copy contacts from.

    6. Select an Account to copy contacts to.

    7. Select Yes on the message Some field infro may be lost. Copy?

    Note: Older version of androiod may not have copy, in that case export contacts to the SD card and import them to the desired Account.
    When moving contacts from one Account to another, the recieving Account may not have all the fields such as birthday or website.

  8. The phone will suggest contacts with the same name to be joined / merged as one contact.

    1. From the Home Screen, tap Apps  > Contacts
    2. Tap Menu

    3. Select Manage contacts.

    4. Tap Join or Merge

    5. The phone will suggest contacts to join / merge, if you agree, tap join / merge next to the contact being suggested.

    6. Note: If you merge a contact by accident, on the top of the screen select Merged / Joined contacts, locate the contacts you wish to un-join / un-merge, and tap separate.

Select a feature to see information about it.

    1. From the Home Screen, tap Apps  > Contacts
    2. Select the contact to be shared.
    3. Tap Menu
    4. Tap Share
    5. Select the application through which to send the contact.

    Note: The image below may differ based on the applications you have on your phone.

    1. From the Home Screen, Tap Apps  > Setting  > (may be found under Sound tab) > ringtone > Select a ringtone from the list.
    2. Tap Ok to set the ring tone.
    1. From the Home Screen, tap Apps  > Contacts
    2. Select a Contact.
    3. Tap Edit ICON > Tap Ringtone > Select a ringtone from the list.
    1. From the Home Screen, Tap Apps  > Contacts
    2. Select a Contact.
    3. Tap Edit ICON > Tap Add Picture
    4. Tap Take a photo or Select from gallery.
    5. Select area of the picture > Tap OK when done.
    1. From the Home Screen, tap Apps  > Contacts
    2. Select the contact you wish to change Accounts.
    3. Tap above the name to display the different Accounts and select the desired one.
    4. Note: prior to android Jelly Bean, this is not an option, you will need to export contacts to the SD card and import them to the desired location.

  • This feature combines two contacts information under one name.

    To manage duplicate contacts from multiple Accounts on your phone:
    1. From the Home Screen, tap Apps  > Contacts
    2. Select a Contact > Menu > Merge.
    3. The phone provides suggestion of contacts to join, select Show all contacts to select another name to join.
    4. Tap the contact to merge.
    1. From the Home Screen, tap Apps  > Contacts > Menu > Contacts Settings > Contacts to display.
    2. Select an Account to only display contacts from that Account.
      Select All contacts to display all Accounts.
      Select customize and select contacts from more than one Account but not all Accounts.
    3. Select Apply Button to finish.
