How Can I Improve The Battery Life Of My Android Device?

Display brightness is a large part of battery usage, using a lower brightness setting or enabling Auto Brightness can help improve battery life.

  1. Open Brightness Settings

    From Settings, tap Display Tab, then scroll to Brightness.

  2. Adjust the Slider

    Tap and hold on the slider icon, then slide to the left to lower the brightness. The lower the percentage, the better your battery life will be.

    Note: You may also adjust the birghtness from the notification panel. Swipe down from the top of the display to open the notification panel, then adjust the slider. If you do not see a slider tap the Down Arrow in the top right corner of the notification panel, then tap Edit to add the brightness slider.

  3. Turn On Auto Brightness

    Tap the Auto to enable Auto Brigtness. Auto Brightness will adjust the dispaly brightness depending on ambient light sources (example: dimmer when in a theater).

If Wi-Fi or Bluetooth is enabled, but not connected to a network, disable to help reduce battery usage.

  1. Open Wi-Fi Settings

    From Settings, tap Networks Tab, then tap Wi-Fi.

  2. Disable Wi-Fi

    Tap the Wi-Fi switch or checkbox to disable Wi-Fi.

  3. Disable Wi-Fi Notification

    Tap the Menu button > Advanced Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi Notification switch to off.

    Note: You may need to enable Wi-Fi first, disable Wi-Fi notification, then disable Wi-Fi.

  1. Open Bluetooth Settings

    From Settings, tap Networks Tab, then tap Bluetooth.

  2. Disable Bluetooth

    Tap the Bluetooth switch or checkbox to disable Bluetooth.

Disabling GPS may reduce battery usage but can also effect the operation of system and third party applications. It is advised to change the GPS settings for specific application.

  1. From the home screen, tap Apps   > Settings   > Location access or settings.

  2. Tap the Location switch(s) or checkbox(s) to disable GPS service(s).

OR

  1. With the screen powered on, swipe down from the top of the display to open the Notification Panel.

  2. Tap the GPS toggle to disable.

Note: Disabling GPS from the Notification Panel may not disable GPS for system level applications.

Closing running applications can help reduce battery usage but can also effect the operation of system and third party applications.

  1. Tap and hold the Home button or tap the Recent apps button

  2. Tap and hold on an application in the list, then swipe left or right to close.

OR

  1. Tap and hold the Home button > Task Manager or from the home screen, tap Apps > Task Manager.

  2. Tap an application to close.
