Arranging Music Flow Speakers - Soundbar, Sound Plate, Home Theater

Welcome to Music Flow, where you will live in flowing sound. To begin enjoying your new sound experience, you'll need to setup your speakers. For assistance with placement/arrangement of your new speaker(s), continue below.

Surround Sound Mode

Requirements:

  • Setting up your Music Flow speakers in surround sound mode requires at least three speakers.
  • All speakers must be Wi-Fi capable and support Music Flow.
  • The front speaker must be an LG Music Flow Soundbar.
  • The LG Music Flow Player application must be installed on Android, iOS, or PC (to group the speakers).

Recommendations:

  • Have at least one speaker connected to your home network via Ethernet.
  • Use the same model for both rear speakers.

For example:

You could have an LAS851M Soundbar in the front.

And Two H5s in the rear.

Requirements:

  • All speakers must be added to the App (part of the Mesh Network).
  • For information about adding speakers to the Music Flow Player App, refer to Music Flow Apps and Software.

To arrange speakers within the App:

1. From the side menu, select Connected Speakers.

2. From the Connected Speakers menu, select the Surround Environment button associated with the Soundbar.

3. From the Surround Environment menu, set the rear speakers accordingly (left/right), then tap OK.

4. Your speakers are now setup for Surround Mode.

Single Speaker Wi-Fi Setup

Requirements:

  • A wireless router and Internet connection are required (most mobile devices won't connect to a wireless network without Internet access).
  • The LG Music Flow Player (Android/iOS), or Music Flow (PC) must be installed on the respective device.


Place the speaker anywhere within range of the wireless router.

Requirements:

  • The speaker must be connected to the network.
  • For information about connecting the speaker to the Music Flow Player App, refer to Music Flow Apps and Software.

To use the speaker within the app:

1. From the side menu, tap the Connected Speakers button.

2. Use the Play Bar directly beneath the speaker to choose which music to play through it.

Single Speaker Bluetooth Setup

Requirements:

  • The mobile device must have Bluetooth capability, and must have Bluetooth enabled.
  • The LG Music Flow Player or Music Flow Bluetooth application (depending on speaker model) must be installed on Android or iOS.

Recommendations:

  • Bluetooth playback may encounter interference from other radio frequency devices. Keep the mobile device as close to the speaker as possible.

Requirements:

Note: When using a single speaker Bluetooth connection, the Music Flow Bluetooth App is not required. You can use any music player or streaming service and it will automatically play through the speaker (once connected).

To use the speaker within the app:

1. From the side menu, tap Bluetooth to expand the section, then tap your speaker's name (it may say LG TV).

2. Tap the source of the music you want to listen to (Home, My Device, or Streaming Service).

NFC (Near Field Communication) allows you to pair your Bluetooth device with your Music Flow Bluetooth speaker by tapping the two together.

Requirements:

  • NFC is only available on Android devices (4.0.2 and later) and must be enabled in the mobile device's settings.

To use NFC:

1. Make sure NFC is enabled on your mobile device, and locate the Tag On web O S 2 point O area of the speaker.

2. Tap the phone to the Tag On web O S 2 point O area, and follow any instructions on your mobile device.

Individual Mode Using an Auxilary Cable

Using an auxilary cable does not require any specific setup techniques.

Simply connect the cable from your playback device (anything with a headphone-out jack), to the Aux In port on the speaker.

All sound from the device will be redirected to the speaker, so no additional setup is required.

Note: Both the playback device and the speaker have volume controls, adjust both to find the optimum volume level.

Multiple Speaker Wi-Fi Setup

When using Wi-Fi to connect multiple speakers, you have the option to create groups that all play the same sound, or you can control each speaker individually (or any combination of the two).

Requirements:

  • Setting up your Music Flow speakers in Group Playback mode requires at least two speakers. Individual control has no restrictions.
  • The LG Music Flow Player (Android/iOS), or Music Flow (PC) must be installed on the respective device.

Recommendations:

  • Keep all speakers as close to the wireless router as possible.

Requirements:

  • All speakers must be added to the App (part of the Mesh Network).
  • For information about adding speakers to the Music Flow Player App, refer to Music Flow Apps and Software.

To arrange speakers within the App:

1. From the side menu, tap the Connected Speakers button.

2. Tap the Play Bar directly below the speaker you wish to control to choose a file to play.

Bluetooth Setup

Requirements:

  • Your mobile device must be Bluetooth capable and have Bluetooth enabled.
  • The LG Music Flow Player or Music Flow Bluetooth application (depending on speaker model) must be installed on Android or iOS.

Recommendations:

  • Bluetooth playback may encounter interference from other radio frequency devices. Keep the mobile device as close to the speakers as possible.

With multiple Bluetooth speakers, each being used at different times, you can use NFC to switch between them. See the NFC tab above for more information.

Requirements:

  • Setting up your Music Flow speakers in Group Playback mode requires at least two speakers. Individual control has no restrictions.
  • The LG Music Flow Player (Android/iOS), or Music Flow (PC) must be installed on the respective device.

Recommendations:

  • Connect at least one speaker directly to the modem/router via ethernet. The speaker connected via ethernet should be set as the main speaker when setting up the group within the app.
  • It's best to use Wi-Fi only for Group Playback. Results may be undesirable if mixing connection types.
  • Keep all speakers within range of the wireless router or bluetooth device.

Requirements:

  • All speakers must be added to the App (part of the Mesh Network).
  • For information about adding speakers to the Music Flow Player App, refer to Music Flow Apps and Software.

To arrange speakers within the App:

1. From the side menu, tap the Connected Speakers button.

2. Tap the Group Link button of the speaker you wish to make the main speaker.

3. Tap to fill in the Checkbox of any speaker you want to add to the group, the tap OK.

4. Use the Play Bar directly beneath the grouped/individual speakers to choose which music to play through each.

Bluetooth Setup

  • Your mobile device must be Bluetooth capable and have Bluetooth enabled.
  • The LG Music Flow Player or Music Flow Bluetooth application (depending on speaker model) must be installed on Android or iOS.

  • Bluetooth playback may encounter interference from other radio frequency devices. Keep the mobile device as close to the speakers as possible.

Stereo Mode Using Wi-Fi

Stereo (Dual Play) mode is not available for Wi-Fi speakers. You can, however, connect multiple speakers and set them all to play the same sound.

Requirements:

  • Setting up your Music Flow speakers in Group Playback mode requires at least two speakers.
  • All speakers must support Wi-Fi.
  • The LG Music Flow Player (Android/iOS), or Music Flow (PC) must be installed on the respective device.

Recommendations:

  • Connect at least one speaker directly to the modem/router via ethernet. The speaker connected via ethernet should be set as the main speaker when setting up the group within the app.

Stereo Mode Using Bluetooth®

Requirements:

  • Setting up your Music Flow speakers in Stereo (dual Play) mode requires at least two speakers.
  • Both speakers must be compatible with the same Music Flow App. i.e. A bluetooth only speaker that uses the Music Flow Bluetooth App cannot be combined with a Wi-Fi/Bluetooth speaker that uses the Music Flow Player App (including while using a Bluetooth connection on both speakers).
  • The LG Music Flow Player or Music Flow Bluetooth application (depending on speaker model) must be installed on Android or iOS.

Recommendations:

  • Bluetooth playback may encounter interference from other radio frequency devices. Keep the mobile device as close to the speakers as possible.
  • Use the same model for both speakers to ensure sound consistency.
