Tips for "Google Play Error" or "App Error" Messages

Note: Some Settings, Menus, or Icons may differ from that of your device depending on your software version and wireless service provider.


This error may be caused by several issues, please follow each step listed below:

Clear Data/Cache

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps  > Settings  > Apps (may be found under General Tab).

  2. Swipe from right to left until you reach the All tab.

  3. Tap Google Play Services to view the App info.

  4. Tap Clear data and Clear cache to reset the application.

  5. Restart your device.

Reset Clock

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps  > Settings  > Date & Time (may be found under General Tab).

  2. If not already checkmarked; tap Auto-date & Time and Auto-time zone. If checkmarked, un-check, manually change the date and time randomly, then re-checkmark each to reset the date and time.

  3. Restart your device.

App Errors

    1. From the Home screen, tap Apps  > Settings  > Apps (may be found under General Tab).

    2. Swipe from right to left until you reach the All tab.

    3. Tap the application having an issue to view the App info.

    4. Tap Clear data and Clear cache to reset the application and resolve the issue.

    Note: Clearing an applications data and cache may result in loss of data not backed up or may require you to re-log into the application if required.

  • Due to a recent update, your device may be displaying a Google Search has stopped error messages. Use the following steps as a temporary solution until the issue has been resolved.

    1. From the Home screen, tap Apps  > Settings  > Apps (may be found under General Tab).

    2. Swipe right to left to the All category, then select Google App.

    3. Select Clear Cache and Clear Data.

    4. Return to the All category of Apps, then select Google Play Services.

    5. Tap Uninstall Updates.

    6. Reset your device.

    Note: Removing or disabling apps may cause various Google services to not function properly until you install the new update.

  • Due to a recent update, your device may be suffering from random resets. Use the following steps as a temporary solution until the issue has been resolved.

    1. Power off the device and remove the SIM card.

    2. Power on the device.

    3. Turn off Wi-Fi (Apps > Settings > Wi-Fi) or place the device into Airplane Mode (press and hold the Power button > select Airplane Mode).

    4. From the Home screen, tap Apps  > Settings  > Accounts > (may be found under General Tab) and select your Google account.

    5. Tap the Menu button, then select Remove account (repeat for any additional Google accounts).

    6. Return to Settings  , then select Apps > (may be found under General Tab).

    7. Swipe right to left to the All category, then select Google Services Framework.

    8. Select Clear Data.

    9. Return to the All category of Apps, then select Google Play Services.

    10. Tap Uninstall Updates.

    11. Power off the device, insert the SIM card, then power on.
