Troubleshooting - Range LSE4617

[Narrator]

  • LG's induction range will revolutionize the way you cook with more speed, precision, and efficiency than on a traditional range.

  • If you are new to induction cooking, some simple troubleshooting should help you get the most out of your new LG induction cooktop.

  • Improper cookware can cause issues such as the cooktop not cooking, not maintaining a rolling boil, or not cooking fast enough.

  • Before using the induction cooktop, determine if your cookware is induction compatible.

  • Induction only works with ferromagnetic materials such as enameled steel, cast iron, and some stainless steel.

  • Induction does NOT work with glass, Pyrex, aluminum, copper, ceramic, and some stainless steel.

  • To check cookware for compatibility placing a magnet on the bottom of the pan, if the magnet sticks then the cookware is induction compatible.

  • Note: Induction works best with cookware with the flat and even base.

  • Avoid using cookware with the curved or patterned base.

  • Cookware used should be sized correctly for the induction heating elements.

  • The diameter of the cookware base should be no more than half an inch smaller than the element diameter.

  • Non-compatible cookware is the usual cause for heating and cooking issues.

  • If cookware is not compatible with induction, the range will not detect it and will display a slowly pulsating LED bar.

  • When the proper cookware is detected, the display shows a solid red LED bar indicating that the element is activated and working properly.

  • A rapid pulse displays when the Boost mode is activated.

  • Selecting Boost mode, temporarily increases the power of the element to a very high level, for faster heating of large amounts of food or water.

  • Boost mode can operate for a maximum of 10 minutes.

  • After 10 minutes, the element automatically changes to a HI power level.

  • Due to high power demand, only one induction element from each pair of elements can be run in Boost mode at one time.

  • If both elements in a pair are set to Boost mode, both elements will revert to HI.

  • It is normal for your induction range to emit sounds.

  • When you first turn on the heating element, the cooktop beeper will sound be followed by the control board cooling fans and then the relay switches.

  • However, if you hear vibration noise such as this, the problem may be due to uneven cookware and is more noticeable when using the larger elements with Boost mode selected.

  • Be sure to use induction compatible cookware with a flat and even base to reduce vibration noise.

  • If you notice slight discoloration, streaks, or specks on the cooktop, they may be caused by mineral deposits in water or my spilled food.

  • Some scratches, abrasions, or metal marks on the cooktop can be caused by salt or sand on cookware, or metal cookware.

  • Clean cookware bases before using a glass induction cooktop and pick cookware up rather than sliding it.

  • Spills and mass do not burn on an induction surface, making cleanup easier.

  • Clean the cooktop using a metal blade scraper to remove heavy soil.

  • Use a glass/ceramic cleaning solution to clean any remaining residue.

  • Do not slide cookware or use cookware with rough finishes, sand, salt, or other abrasives on the base.

  • To avoid residue and water deposits, clean and dry cookware before use.

  • A little care will keep your induction cooktop looking its best.
